Albert P. Brewer High School JROTC Places In JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl Championship

The Albert P. Brewer JROTC recently competed in the College Options sponsored JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl Championship in Washington, DC. This was the first time in school history the A.P. Brewer program qualified for the national championships. Team members are Noah Hunter, Jessica Chroust, Sidnie Ross and Alexis Reynolds (pictured with Col. Retired Bennie J. Pokemire II). The AP Brewer team finished 13th out of 1411 schools and was the best performing JROTC program in 6th Brigade region (comprised of teams from AL, LA, FL, MS, GA, and PR).

"Gold Card" Athletic Pass Available for Citizens 65 and Older Compliments of the MCSS

The MCSS is proud to make available to citizens 65 years or older the Morgan County Schools Athletic Pass "Gold Card." This card is given to citizens 65 years of age or older compliments of the MCSS to be used for FREE admission to all MCSS athletic events. The card will be honored at ALL MCSS schools. Cards are available for pick up at our Central Office, 235 HWY 67 South Decatur AL 35603. Our 2019-2020 athletic events will begin soon...please share this important offer with those you know would benefit from this complimentary, free card.

2019-2020 MCSS Kindergarten Registration Open

Morgan County Alabama Schools are excited to announce that Kindergarten Registration for 2019 is now open. If you have a child or know of someone with a child that is going into kindergarten for the next school year, please visit your local school to register.

Go to for registration forms. Early registration will help prevent waiting in long lines to register at the beginning of the school year and allows for schools to effectively plan for the next school year. Items needed to register are a birth certificate, immunization card, and proof of residency. For more information contact your local school.

MCSS Students Selected for 25th Annual Daikin America Homestay Program

We would like to congratulate our eleventh-grade students who were selected to participate in the 25th Annual Daikin America Homestay Program. This annual cultural learning experience allows the students, who will be traveling to Japan, to experience the Japanese culture and explore the differences between our two societies leading to a better understanding of each other. Albert P. Brewer High School National Honor Society Donates to Morgan County Summer Food Program

Thank you to the Albert P. Brewer High School National Honor Society for their donation of $550.00 that will help the Morgan County Summer Food Program for our feeder school communities. The NHS members raised the money through fundraising efforts this past school year.

Mrs. Honi Smith Promoted to Principal, Union Hill Junior High School

During their July 10, 2019 business meeting, the MCBOE approved a recommendation to promote Mrs. Honi Smith (pictured with her family) to Principal of Union Hill Junior High School effective July 1, 2019. We are pleased to have Mrs. Smith join our team of dedicated school principals.

MCSS Designated a "Heart Safe School" System by Alabama Life Start

The Morgan County School District was awarded the designation of “Heart Safe Schools” by Alabama Life Start, which is an affiliate of Project Adam and supported by Children’s of Alabama. Each school nurse will accept the award as the representative for the Cardiac Response Team from his or her school. This recognition is the result of the work our schools have done toward educating its students and staff on the importance of life-saving Automated External Defibrillators and for conducting AED Emergency Drills as part of their training, with support provided by Alabama Life Start and Children’s of Alabama.
