Cape's Mission & Vision
Vision: We believe that the most promising strategy for achieving the mission of Cape Elementary is to develop our capacity to function as a professional learning community.
Message from Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund
Hi Cape Families,
Welcome back, everyone! We are extremely impressed with the first several weeks at Cape Elementary. Our face-to-face students have entered the building and adapted to all of the safety guidelines we have been asked to follow, while at the same time, our Lee Home Connect students are engaging with our in-school and remote teachers. Thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration during the opening weeks. We know the recent times have been challenging in many ways, but we sincerely hope that your first four weeks of school have brought some normalcy to your child’s world.
As always, we encourage you to please continue to refer to the Lee County School website; our school website, www.cap.leeschools.net; and our social media pages (Facebook and Twitter) for additional information. Please also look in this newsletter for additional information. We will continue to utilize School Messenger, our district-wide automated communication system to keep families updated as well.
We want to say a special thank you to our PTO and our community members for their support in our opening weeks at Cape Elementary. PTO purchased lanyards for students to use to clip on their masks and AR plastic folders. They also purchased lunch for our staff, staff shirts and much, much more. Cape Coral First United Methodist Church donated over 50 book bags filled with school supplies. We are also grateful for an anonymous backpack donation this summer, and a special shout-out to Kristy Blizzard, the lifestyle director at Sandoval who delivered supplies donated by the Sandoval community for our Cape kids as well. Thank you also to Cape VIneyards Community Church who donated snacks and treats for our entire staff to start the year off right.
We want to thank each of you for your continued support of Cape Elementary and wish you and your family good health and a continued smooth school year. Please email or call us if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund
Reminder: No Treats at School
Until further notice, please do not send treats of any kind to school for birthday celebrations. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no treats are allowed at school. Thank you for understanding!
Special Thank You!
We want to give a special shout out to Jim Fischer at Century 21 Sunbelt Realty for treating our staff to Southern Snoballs this month! We appreciate your generosity on behalf of our staff!
Paper Clinic Passes
Beginning Thursday, October 8th we will no longer send paper clinic passes home with students who visit the clinic during the school day. Please rest assured that if required, our clinic assistant will make a call home to explain your child's visit.

PTO News!
The 2020-2021 school year has officially begun! This year looks a lot different for everyone including the PTO. You might have noticed that our annual Yankee Candle Fundraiser hasn't happened. Yankee Candle no longer has a Fundraiser division and with the uncertainty surrounding the start of the school year we decided to postpone the Fall fundraiser. This is the only major fundraiser PTO holds during the year. All money raised goes directly back to our school, classrooms and students. We're brainstorming to come up with creative fundraisers to help support the programs funded by the PTO. Currently in the works is an online silent auction of donated items, school experiences and the coveted VIP parent pick up parking spots to be held in October or November. Please be on the lookout for future messages from PTO with information on this event and with other ways to support us. With your support, the 2020-2021 school year will be a success even with limited fundraising opportunities!
Our first PTO/SAC meeting of the year will be held on Wednesday, October 14th at 6:00pm via Zoom. We hope to see many of you on the call. The PTO Board has three vacancies that need to be filled and it is our hope that will be accomplished at this meeting. Our success is dependent on parents who are willing to step up and fill these seats. It is imperative that these positions be filled or the PTO will be forced to dissolve. If you are interested in becoming a part of our PTO Board, please email Amy Gabel at capeelementarypto@gmail.com. We are grateful for all of the time & effort that our past board members have contributed and look forward to welcoming new members!
