MONDAY JANUARY 27TH - HIDDEN IN PLAIN SITE PRESENTATION
Hidden in Plain Sight is an educational experience that walks you through a typical teenage bedroom. The inside of the bedroom is set up with drug paraphernalia “Hidden in Plain Sight.” This is an interactive display that offers adults insights into current trends in youth substance abuse, drug paraphernalia, concealment of illicit drugs & alcohol. Peace officers will be available to assist in educating community members about drug trends, paraphernalia, how to talk to youth about alcohol & drugs, and what to do if a problem is suspected.
At conferences on January 27th from 3:30-5:30pm the “typical teenagers’” bedroom will be set up on the auditorium stage, attendees can walk through the exhibit with a Peace Officer who will assist in pointing out items of interest inside the room. Informational and display materials will be positioned outside the exhibit for review and inspection.
POWER TO THE PARENT - SEE LINK BELOW
Power to the Parent’s Hidden in Plain Sight room provides parents with clues from a teen’s bedroom to help them determine whether their child might be experimenting with or using drugs or alcohol. Room décor, hidden compartments and items to conceal use are located throughout the room.
Add power to your parenting by being informed and then intervening if you think your child might be using drugs or alcohol. Addressing problem behavior early is important to preventing negative consequences of use including unsafe decision-making, car crashes and dependence.
