Summer 2021 Newsletter
Principals Welcome
We would like to thank you for all your hard work and dedication to your student(s) this past year. Without your support they would not have been as successful. Our students did very well despite the adversity they faced with the pandemic and modified school year. With that behind us we look forward to a school year that will be more “normal” than last. Please see attached Re-Opening Plan for safety protocol details.
We have had a slight change in our school schedule with the transition back to a one late start day a week. With parent input the late start day will be every Monday. These Mondays will be for staff meetings and valuable teacher planning and collaboration time. On Mondays, breakfast will be served at 9:00am with school starting promptly at 9:30am. Tuesday-Friday breakfast will start at 8:00am with school starting at 8:30am. Please remember your student is tardy after the start time and must check in at the front of the school before going to class. Studies have shown students can fall significantly behind after missing just a few days of school. Teachers work to plan a full day of valuable instruction for your student(s) and it is essential for them to be in class for the entirety of the school day. Attendance is key to student success. We will be doing monthly/quarterly/yearly prefect attendance awards for students and families. Our goal is 100% attendance for all students!
We would love to welcome back your students and inform you of staffing changes for this year. Dave Lewis who has served BCCS as our part time Education Specialist for the past several years will now be full time with us. He will be part time serving as Education Specialist and part time High School teacher. Additionally, this past year Jordan Rodrigues was our part time Transition Specialist working with the High School students, but as of July 1, 2021 he is now full time with BCCS. His role has expanded and he will be supporting not only the High School students but also our transitioning 8th graders to prepare them for High School. Please join me in welcoming them on full time into our BCCS Family. We are still in the process of hiring two additional Instructional Paraprofessional staff to support our classrooms.
Our Back to School Night will be September 29th 5:30pm-7:00pm. We will all meet in the gym for our annual Title 1 Parent informational meeting, local community agencies will be present to talk about their programs, plenty of raffle prizes, and take a pizza home for dinner! Join us for a fun filled evening.
I am so excited for an amazing school year

Ms. Gemma
Hello parents and guardians! I hope that you enjoyed your summer. Welcome to a new school year! I am grateful we will be starting this year with school in-person. I am excited for the learning that will happen this year!
My class will be kicking off the year by learning more about what it looks like to be a classroom community, how to be a good friend, how to respect others’ differences, and how to help one another learn while we get our beginning of the year tests checked off our list. Then we will be moving into academic work: English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. This year we will have Ms. Sami working with us in the classroom every day, which will help us learn even more!
Mr. Mike
Welcome back, students and parents! It’s going to be a great year at BCCS. Get ready for a year of amazing learning, good literature and some very fun activities in my class. This year we have secured funding for a resident artist from the community to come teach some music and art lessons in the spring. I’ll keep you posted as we get closer to scheduling this. I’m looking forward to spending time and getting to know each of my students—and their parents too (if I don’t already). Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions: mlong@bcoe.org
High School Team
Hello, I am going to be your high school instructor again this year! My name is Mr. Abbay and I am excited to see what we can do this year. I want you to know that I rarely miss a day of school because I would rather be with my students then trying to write out sub plans. But I am sure there will be days that I may be out. I look forward to meeting each of you and working together for your success. I hope to learn more about each and everyone of you to hear your story.
Greeting All! I’m Mr. Dave. I’ve been working at BCCS for a few years now as your half-time Special Education teacher. I am excited to say that I will be here full-time, so now I will also be your High School teacher as well.
I’m looking forward to working will all of you this year; we’ve got some exciting things going on!
