Ridgeview STEM Junior High School
October 23, 2020
From the Principal
Recently, the Pickerington Board of Education approved a 4 day plan (keeping Wednesday as a virtual learning day until Christmas break) for all students to return to school starting on November 16th. While we do not have all the answers, we are working with our staff and the district office to have everything in place for students to return to the building. Over the next few weeks, we will be providing families and students with information on what this looks like. Please keep in mind that this is not a return to "normal," and safety procedures and protocols that were put in place to start the school year will continue. Please reach out to anyone in the main office if you have questions or concerns. We are ready to help!
Remember to double check with your student that they are logging in for attendance on virtual days and to check the Classroom Information Page (linked at the bottom of this newsletter) so that you know what is coming up. There is also still time to schedule Parent/teacher conferences for November 3rd. See links below.
NEW DROP OFF PROCEDURE STARTING 10/26/2020
In an effort to reduce traffic backup in the morning on Hill Road, the way students enter the building will be changing. Please pull your car as far forward as possible. Check the sandwich board by the curb. Students in cars that pull up past the sign will enter through the Cafeteria door (B). Students in cars that are behind the sign will exit their car and enter through the Main Office Door (A). This change will begin October 26. Thanks for your help as we move toward having all students back in the building.
Presentation for VLA Students & Families
Please see the video for PLSD Junior High VLA families that focuses on strategies that can help students be successful in a virtual learning environment. Topics include navigating the VLA teacher websites, using Google Classroom to monitor classwork, and organizational tips to increase learning outcomes.
*We apologize for the technical difficulties on 10/22 that prevented the live presentation.

Updated Information From Food Services
We just got word from the ODE Child Nutrition Department that all meals are free through June 2021! If you would like to receive breakfast and lunch for the days your student is virtual, please click on the correct link below to sign up. Remember that you need to do this every week.Cohort A-Virtual Days Order Form
- The Food Service Department is sending out negative balance letters to parents and guardians. Most of these balances are carryover balances from last year. We encourage you to pay off the balances as soon as possible. If your child wishes to purchase any extra items that are not included in the free meals they will need to have money on their account. A safe and easy way to add money to your account is by using mypaymentsplus.com.

New Tech Support Hours
Technology Support Hours are changing! Starting in the month of October, the Technology Department will be adjusting their support hours to better serve students in both Cohorts as well as our Virtual Learners. Beginning on October 5th, we will follow the below schedule each week for the month of October:
Mondays – 1:30pm to 3:30pm
Wednesdays – 9:00am to 11:00am
Fridays – 1:30pm to 3:30pm
We will still be at our District Office location and please continue to sign up for service using the below link. This helps us know how many folks we will need to prepare for.
Please see the short video below on how to Update Chrome OS
Please Check Your Student's Attendance on Virtual Days
We believe the majority of log in issues with Infinite Campus have now been resolved. Students must log into Infinite Campus for their attendance and Google Classroom daily. They can login to Infinite Campus once and do their attendance for the entire day so they do not need to login multiple times. If your student is unsure of how to post his/or attendance on virtual days, please watch this "how to" video: Virtual Attendance Video.
If they cannot login to Infinite Campus, please reach out to their school counselor, Kris Owen (firstname.lastname@example.org) - 7th grade and Courtney Smooth (Courtney_Smoot@plsd.us) - 8th grade.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
