Season of Lent - Meatless Fridays

St. Malachy hot lunches are always meatless during the Lenten Season. We expect students who bring sack lunches to participate in meatless Fridays. Here is a great article explaining why Catholics do this.

The Passion of the Christ

Join us March 28 at 10:30 am for a special screening of Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ”. This movie is great way to be reminded of the Lord’s saving work, and the reason we celebrate the Lenten and Easter seasons. A free will offering will be taken up, with the net proceeds going to the Creston Area Food Pantry, Inc. Concessions will be available. Everyone is invited, but please be aware that this movie is rated “R” because of the violent scenes and may not be suitable for children.

Virus Concerns

A letter was email home today please take a moment to read our most recent update:

St. Malachy plans to continue its regular process of cleaning and disinfecting the school to help prevent the spread of germs.

Some additional precautions we will be taking include:

*We will wipe down learning surfaces additional times throughout the day

*Students will be reminded about the importance of handwashing, they will also be instructed about how to wash hands thoroughly

*Teachers will fist-bump students in the morning instead of shaking hands until the threat passes

*Mrs. Simmons plans to disinfect the school over spring break with a UV light in each classroom.

*Matienence staff is aware of the need to ramp up the cleaning process of doorknobs, handles, rails, etc.

*Parents consider washing coats, backpacks, and other soft materials over the break to help reduce the spread of germs.

Please feel free to call the school if you have questions 782-7125 or the public health hotline 211
