Why did you decide to attend NCVA?
I decided to attend NCVA because I had heard it mentioned a lot and when I moved to North Carolina from New Hampshire I was about to start high school. Public (in-person) school just really wasn’t for me. I applied, got in, and I’ve loved it ever since.
How has being a student at NCVA helped you in working toward your goals?
Honestly, it’s been fantastic! My schedules have always been so convenient and easy to manage around my work and hobbies. I also wanted to graduate early and K12 has made that happen. Unfortunately, I tried one online school before getting accepted into K12 and it was different all around. Long story short, I failed two of my classes and had to repeat 8th grade. So, when I got into K12 I wanted to graduate early and K12 has made it possible and now it’s happening!
What do you plan to do after you graduate from high school?
I plan on taking my time for sure after I graduate. I really want to enjoy my time off from school and just work and work. I don’t really have a plan to attend college, but I want to focus on working and my hobbies. I really want to travel too so I would love to do that.
What advice would you give other students on getting through high school?
I’m probably not the greatest to give advice, but I’ll try! High school is difficult, don’t get me wrong, but everyone can get through it. You may not want to do assignments early, but it will benefit you in the long run. Managing your time is great, so establishing a good schedule will also help you. Make sure to leave time for lunch and breaks. Breaks are super important! Lastly, breathe. Remember that in the end, the teachers are there for support and to help you through difficult lessons. Communication is key.
What are your hobbies?
My number one hobby would be my sport, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I’ve been doing it for about a year and a few months and I love it. It’s my form of therapy and it has made me such a better person.I also enjoy fashion, photography, art, and interior design.
Have you completed any volunteer work?
Yes, I used to volunteer at the Carolina Horse Park all the time. I used to manage all the show
rings and warm up rings by myself. It was a blast but this past summer I moved about an hour away, so I had to stop. I miss it a lot!
Do you have a role model or someone that inspires you?
I have a lot of people that I look up to…I have a lot of inspirations within my sport, my
hobbies and everyday life. I would say my number one would be my parents. They have been
through so much together and where we are now compared to where we were 10 years ago is
such a difference. I’m proud of them and their growth and it’s been amazing to watch.
What is your favorite book? Favorite Movie?
My favorite book would have to be “Twilight”, the first book (title book) of the whole “Twilight
Saga”. I’m not the biggest reader, but I grew up reading those books and I adore them. My
favorite movie would have to be “Clueless” (1995). It’s my comfort movie 100%, my mom and I always used to watch it when I was sick or didn’t feel good, we would get some comfy clothes on and just sit and enjoy it.
