Six Flags Read to Succeed
There have been a few changes to the program this year, parents will need to log their child's minutes online. Instructions are on the reading log and creating an account should not take more than 2-3 minutes. Students who read more than 360 minutes can earn additional prizes such as discounts on season passes and more. Parents will have until April 3 at midnight to log student's read minutes. Hard copies of reading logs will not need to be turned in and can not be accepted for a ticket.
Reading logs will be going home with students next week or you can get a jump start and download one below.

March is Nutrition Month
Green it Clean It Week!
As part of our efforts to earn the Green School Certification with the City of Plano, we will be having the Harrington GREEN IT CLEAN IT the week of March 16th – March 20th . This will be a week focused on living green and supporting the health of our environment.
- We will be learning about recycling during the week.
- We will conduct a Live Green in Plano registered on-campus litter clean up. During Specials, the students will be taking a campus walk to clean up litter around the school, inside and outside. The older grades will work on fixing up the garden boxes so we can grow new plants.
- We will be recycling old markers in the designated marker waste bin that is in the Art Room.
- We will wear green on Wednesday, March 18th.
Health Update: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
The health and well-being of our students, families and staff are always a top priority in Plano ISD. We understand that there may be new concerns and questions based on the latest news regarding the COVID-19 virus (or Novel Coronavirus).
We want our parents, staff and community to know that Plano ISD stays up-to-date with information provided by local, state and federal health authorities, as they continue to learn more information daily. According to the Centers for Disease Control’s most recent risk assessment, dated February 29, most people in the United States will have little immediate risk of exposure to this virus. This is a rapidly evolving situation and the CDC will update the risk assessment as needed.
Plano ISD will provide the community with updates based on information that comes directly from health officials. Our district’s approach to planning and preparing is in line with the CDC’s recently issued interim guidance for schools, available online at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/specific-groups/guidance-for-schools.html, and we will continue to follow the measures that we have in place to help prevent the spread of communicable illnesses.
- Plano ISD’s exclusion protocol is consistent with public health guidance. Any student or staff member who is ill with a fever over 100 degrees, or has acute respiratory symptoms, should stay home and remain at home until fever-free for 24 hours.
- We reinforce proper respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene for all staff and students.
- We are deep cleaning high-touch surfaces of schools and facilities as needed.
- We recommend that anyone traveling out of the country be familiar with and follow CDC’s traveler’s health notices. Be aware that additional countries have been added to the list of destinations that have an increased risk of community spread of COVID-19. Current travel notices are available at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html.
In the event that there is a confirmed COVID-19 case in the community, Plano ISD will coordinate with state and local health officials so that timely and accurate information can guide appropriate responses. The district’s goal is to protect all students and staff while ensuring minimal disruption to normal operations for as long as possible.
Plano ISD has plans in place, along with trained staff, to respond to a communicable disease outbreak. The decision to close schools is not taken lightly, as it does cause a major disruption to daily life. Plano ISD will continue to provide updates when there are changes in the current situation or additional steps are needed.
