Eagles Weekly Staff Newsletter
Week of April 17-21, 2023
WE ARE EAGLE STRONG!!!!
Mrs. Thomas' Message
April is HALF OVER!!! There are many events and assessments on the horizon but let us not forgot the importance of using every instructional minute to the fullest and engaging our students in rigorous, interactive learning every day! Remember, that as I visit classrooms I am utilizing your lesson plans and daily schedules to strategically pop in during PLE's, Guided Reading, IRAs and math instruction. If there is a change in your daily schedule please let me know.
Teachers, make sure to check your boxes tomorrow before the close of the school day for and updated safety action sheet. Be sure to review it and note the distinct differences between a lockdown vs. shelter in place. (Note that the Raptor system will be implemented district-wide for the 2023-2024 school year which is why our updated instructions mention it). We will be conducting a SHELTER IN PLACE DRILL very soon.
INFORMATION FOR ALL STAFF
*** PLEASE NOTE***
- THIS INFORMATION PERTAINS TO ALL STAFF MEMBERS-
CERTIFICATED AND CLASSIFIED
THANK YOU TO OUR LIBRARIAN AND PARAPROFESSIONALS!
Respectively on April 4th and April 5th these amazing folks were recognized with their Day of Honor. We thank you for all you do daily to make our classrooms and campus safe and engaging for students. We will be honoring ALL staff during our Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week scheduled for May 1st-5th.
ADDITIONAL SUPPORT SERVICES BEGIN THIS WEEK!
Based on our conversation with Mr. Gridiron and his staff, there will be additional support provided to Goshen to help us meet the high socio-emotional needs of our students as we close out this year. Beginning this week, we will have Mrs. Tina Gutierrez supporting on Mondays and SW intern, Ms. Gina Ramirez supporting on Wednesdays through the end of the school year to fill the void when our support team members are not on campus.
OUR OWN DISTRICT FAMILY & COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER WILL HOST A RESOURCE FAIR ONSITE THIS WEEK!
Please be sure to promote the FCRC Resource fair that will take place in our cafeteria this week0 Wednesday from 1:30-2:30pm allowing parents the flexibility to attend and then pickup or vice versa.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR TEACHERS
- Volunteer Live Scans for field trips
- ALL AVAILABLE SUPPORT FOR LIVE SCAND HAS BEEN UTILIZED FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR. I was able to provide support to 10 parents.
- Trimester 3 Assessments
- iReady Diagnostic #3 Testing window OPENS 4/17 FOR K-2. I will be looking for ways to acknowledge/reward classes with at least 80% of the class meeting their personal growth goals.
- CAASPP Testing-Remember to add any students currently in the SST process, not showing growth, and 3+ grade levels behind to this form:
- SUPPLY WISHLISTS
- I have done my best to grant most physical items from every grade-level's wish list. Next, I will be looking at purchasing subscriptions and possibly some consumables that were requested. Once finalized, grade-level leads will be informed of what remained in these areas to be approved for purchase.
- INTEGRATED-ELD LESSONS- incorporate with weekly lesson plans
- Thank you for all your work during PD on the I-ELD lesson using IRAs. Continue to utilize IRAs as a way to seamlessly include integrated-ELD and use that lesson to inform your Designated ELD. As discussed at our last staff meeting, the I-ELD template was a resource and it is ok to instead add your integrated ELD to your current weekly lesson planning format. Again let us remember that the goal here is to have INTENTIONAL I-ELD PLANNING become a normal part of your weekly planning and that can look however is most comfortable for your team.
- PLC agendas/minutes
- Thank you to all grade-levels and programs that have been consistently sharing PLC agendas and minutes so that the admin team can see how and when to best support your work
Our District Focus and Non-negotiables
Continued Growth in Quality First Instruction and Highly Effective PLCs
Quality First Instruction
- Thank you for continuing to work through the growing pains necessary to insure that we operate as a SCHOOL DISTRICT!
- THANK YOU FOR SUBMITTING YOUR WEEKLY PLAN IN THE SHARED DRIVE HERE>>>https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1HaYnztCaN-QC2-CIXT8zu5krtcwPetPq?usp=sharing
- REMEMBER THAT THE LEARNING INTENTION NEEDS TO BE POSTED DAILY
- As we RAMP UP classroom visits to provide feedback for our collective growth, we will be looking for:
- the LEARNING INTENTION to be posted,
- lessons shared with us matching what is being delivered, (make sure you are uploading weekly)
- students engaged with YOU or EACH OTHER- not JUST working independently
- WHOLE CLASS instruction of grade-level standards with the district-adopted curriculum and any needed supplemental material.
- We cannot continue to say 'they are NOT ready" or "they CAN'T do it"- teach to the rigor of the standard for all and differentiate in small groups.
Highly Effective PLC's
Continued commitment to focus PLC time/work targeting learning, collaborative culture and results through data analysis.
- We will clarify PLC work and build capacity through coaching for teams to engage in this work
- We will submit PLC agenda notes to the Goshen Teachers Shared Drive in our grade-level PLC folder WEEKLY https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1amp-Ha5bi-2L7LiGGLQFabjbJyCDDwQ2?usp=sharing
