Learn From The Best: Dolphin Kicking
Underwater kick is one of the main components of freestyle, backstroke, and of course butterfly. It should be the first thing you do off of every wall along with your streamline. Having a strong underwater kick is a great way to conserve energy during a race but also to get a leg up on your opponents!
Braden Keith‘s article for SwimSwam covers 6 key things he learned after watching one of the world’s best underwater kickers and Texas A&M graduate, Beryl Gastaldello. They include: Tempo, Body Motion, Whip-like Motion, Hand Placement, Limited Head Movement, and Feet Placement.
