News from Mrs. Mankin
Dear Bulldogs,
I hope that each of our families is starting to develop some sense of normal in these uncertain times! I cannot even begin to express how appreciative I am of our dedicated learning community. If you have not been able to connect with your child's teacher or have some need that has not been met, please reach out to me (lmankin@hse.k12.in.us), Mr. Gorrill (sgorrill@hse.k12.in.us), or Mrs. Leiner (sleiner@hse.k12.in.us). The school experience is so much more than academics; it is a combination of relationships, exploration, collaboration, questioning, inquiry, failing and trying again...Although these components are difficult to duplicate through eLearning, we are trying to find creative ways to connect and learn. Please let us know if you have ideas of things we can do to better support you at home.
Although academics are important, so is the social-emotional health of your student and your family! Please support your child in doing what he/she can, and be sure to communicate with the teacher. We are certainly going to collaborate with students and families as well as extend grace during this time.
Sincerely,
Lori Mankin

STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Mrs. Audrey Gundersen – Fourth Grade Teacher
A Little about Me: This is my 28th year of teaching, and most of those years have been spent with fourth graders at New Britton! My two children are in college studying hard and enjoying the opportunities that collegiate life can offer. Eric, my husband, is a high school social studies teacher. We both love what we do and are grateful for the people that we work with.
What Brings Me Joy: All the milestones, both large and small, with my family and career bring me joy! Additionally, I find joy when gathering with family and friends for an outing or a game night and also with my church choir family and the quartet that I sing with.
Favorite Food: Fettuccini Alfredo, oven roasted vegetables, sushi, and that just starts the list!
Favorite place to visit: Michigan! My family loves escaping up north to enjoy lazy days at the lake in the summer, and we always look forward to an opportunity strap on our skis to hit the slopes in the winter. I also love the adventure of traveling to new destinations, both domestic and abroad.
