First Grade News April 8, 2016
What have we been up to this week?
- In reading. we worked on identifying cause and effect in nonfiction texts. (We did this a few weeks ago with fiction but not with nonfiction texts!) We also practiced asking questions about a text. Students are always answering questions about a text, but they ask questions about a text far less! Encourage your child to ask questions about what they are reading. We stopped after every page this week to ask questions about the characters, setting, events, etc.
- In writing, we wrote our opinion about a book, and we started writing acrostic poems!
- In Social Studies, we learned about oceans, and in Science, students learned about clouds.
(Remember that I do not have all of my homeroom kids in math.
Be sure to ask your child what he/she is doing in math class!)
Number Grid Game
Practicing adding multiples of 10 in math class!
We are all teachers, and we are all students! Mr. Aiden and Miss Bella did a great job teaching our syllabication lesson!
