SAILS: Student of the Month and Core Values at O'Maley

SAILS Student of the Month

Please link below to see our belated list of January SAILS Students of the Month. Students are selected based on their demonstration of our SAILS values: Service, Acceptance, Integrity, Leadership, and Success.

SAILS Students of the Month - January 2021

SAILS as O'Maley Core Values

Very soon students will be reflecting on SAILS in a slightly different manner, including academic goals as well as those related to community and citizenship. O'Maley staff has identified SAILS as our core values overall, and has spent some time thinking about what it means to demonstrate SAILS values in academics. It's been an interesting process, and we are looking forward to input from students.

Faculty members are working on Advisory lessons to bring students into the process so they too can have input into our academic and community core values. Discussions will be occurring during Advisory block soon.

Register for Weekly COVID Testing

We will once again hold Weekly COVID testing tomorrow, and every week through April 18th.

Students who registered previously do not need to re-register.

The Second Annual O'Maley Virtual Talent Show has been postponed. We need more submissions in order to bring the show to life! Interested students should send recordings of performances to their guidance counselor. Once we have enough, we will reschedule.

Even if you do not have a SAILS Council member in your family, there is representation from each homeroom, so encourage your students to share their ideas with reps.

Check your family daily for COVID-19 symptoms

As we try to minimize Covid-19 in our community and our schools it is essential that parents/guardians communicate with school if their child is out, sharing the details of why you are keeping your child home.

Below is the full list of symptoms for which caregivers should monitor their children:

  • Fever (100° Fahrenheit or higher), chills, or shaking chills

  • Cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough)

  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Headache when in combination with other symptoms

  • Muscle aches or body aches

  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

  • Fatigue, when in combination with other symptoms

  • Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies) when in combination with other symptoms

All Students Must Wear Masks to School.

No Parking on Cherry Street

Please be reminded that the only permitted drop off and pick up area is in the rink parking lot. Parking along Cherry Street is not allowed on either side because it blocks traffic. Residents and passersby have begun to make calls to both DPW and the Gloucester Police Department due to both traffic and safety concerns for our students who walk.

While there is often a line at both arrival and dismissal, it moves quickly. Please be patient and use the provided drop off and pick up areas.
