Roundworms can enter your body through-

1. soil or water supplies in areas of poor sanitation

2. uncooked meat

3. through main or intermediate hosts


As the roundworms enter your body, they travel to the small intestine and develop into adult worms. It takes approximately 2-3 months from the ingestion of the egg to oviposition by the female. Roundworms can live for 1 to 2 years in the intestine.

How can you prevent infection?

You can prevent Ascaris Lumbricoide infections by practicing good hygiene such as washing your hands and washing fruits and vegetables thoroughly before consumption. Also when traveling use bottled water, and only eat foods that cooked and hot.
