As the roundworms enter your body, they travel to the small intestine and develop into adult worms. It takes approximately 2-3 months from the ingestion of the egg to oviposition by the female. Roundworms can live for 1 to 2 years in the intestine.
Symptoms of infection may include those similar to asthma such as a persistent cough of shortness of breath.
You can treat an infection with things such as hydration, suctioning and electrolyte monitoring. The roundworms can be removed through a colonoscopy.
