September 27, 2020

Dear Parents and Community of Cooper Mountain,

This week is our annual Cougar Run! I am grateful and excited for this upcoming event, as it feels like a way we can truly build community and show that we are #cougarsstrong even remotely. See details below about t-shirt pick up and decorating in blue and yellow to show your pride!

Also, today is the Farmington Gardens fundraiser! It is a beautiful day to get out and get some plants!

As always, continue to reach out with any questions or concerns. Have a wonderful week.

With gratitude,

~Ali

Cooper Mountain Library News

This fall, we’re offering library book bundles to go! Instead of browsing the library shelves for what to read, book bundles bring browsing to you. Book bundles are an opportunity for families to take home a bundle of books designed to spark excitement about reading and to introduce kids to new topics, characters, or series. Families who checked out book bundles from the public library over the summer have shared their excitement about receiving these bundles and discovering new surprises and new favorites. We look forward to seeing you at our first book bundle check out! Click HERE for more information on book bundles and how to pick up.

PTO Corner

Cougar Run is finally here!

Starting 9/30 to 10/4 families can choose to run/walk in their neighborhood or wherever they choose. Remember to set up your Pledgestar page at https://pledgestar.com/coopermountain and forward those links to family, friends and social media. Pledgestar will be open through the entire month of October for donations. Don’t forget about EMPLOYER MATCHING. Nike, Intel and many other companies will match donations to Cooper Mountain PTO, this is a great way to stretch every dollar you are able to donate!

Spirit Week

During our Cougar Run decorate your yard, windows, streets & sidewalks to show Cougar Pride for families running and walking! A printable Cougar Run sign is attached to help get you started but get creative with Blue & Gold!

BOOK DRIVE

With less access to in-school libraries this year, let’s work together to build home libraries to support student literacy. If your family has grown out of books in good condition, please donate them to our school. All gently used books, appropriate for kids up to 5th grade are welcome. Book donation bins will be available at the school at tee shirt pickup on 9/29.

Reminders

● TEE SHIRT PICK UP & CHECK DONATION / BOOK DROP OFF :

Tuesday, 9/29, 11am-Noon and 6pm-7pm.

● Share your Cougar Run accomplishments by noon Monday 10/5 to Cassandra_klein@beaverton.k12.or.us

Thank you to all of you who attended our PTO general meeting last week. There were many great ideas shared to help make this a great year. We’d love to hear your ideas too. So please join us at our next PTO meeting or email the board at coopermountainelementarypto@gmail.com.

Cub Scouts

The Cooper Mountain PTO is the proud sponsor of Cub Scout Pack 383, which is celebrating it's 29th year of service to our community and our youth. We invite both girls and boys from kindergarten through 5th grade to consider joining our Pack. Since the day the COVID crisis hit, Scouts and their families have safely served their communities, camped on our beachfront and wilderness properties and continued to grow in confidence and character. Scouts have made masks for healthcare workers, cleared graffiti, earned thousands of advancement awards and hiked thousands of miles with their families. And when the crisis lifts, Scouts will go on epic adventures, learn new skills and become tomorrow’s leaders and persevere, just as we’ve done for more than 100 years.

To learn more, please visit the Pack 383 website at https://pack383.info/ Get a FREE Adventure Kit at https://cpcbsa.org/grit/ then come to a virtual event on September 29 from 6:30pm - 8:00pm to learn about Scouting in the Beaverton area for boys and girls. Cub Scout Packs and Scouts BSA Troops are meeting virtually, and in-person in small groups when appropriate and following state guidelines. Family camping is also open to Scouting families at our unparalleled camp properties on the Oregon Coast and the Cascade Mountains!
