Slice and Dice News

Mrs. Dufresne's Second Grade - September 1, 2015 Newsletter

First Week News!

We had a great first couple of days (even with being stuck inside because of the smoke)! The students are learning all our school expectations and classroom expectations. We met our technology, music, PE, and library teachers. Mr. Lant visited our classroom several times as well! I am so excited to have such an awesome group of students and can already tell that it's going to be a fantastic year in second grade.

We have started Math, English Language Arts, and Science. We will be starting spelling next week.

Important Dates Coming Up!

Wed - Monday, Sept. 2-7: No school - see you at the FAIR!

Individual PICTURE DAY is Thursday, September 10th!

We will be celebrating International Dot Day on September 15th. Check out: http://www.thedotclub.org/dotday/ for more information. Please have your child dress up in polka dots for that day if you can!

Wednesday, September 16th - the DIBELS fluency test for reading will be given and also a benchmark math test. These quick assessments give us a snapshot of your child's ability.

Thursday, September 17th - Book Fair (details will be coming)

Friday, September 25 - No School (professional development day for staff)

Please remember to send in $5 for your student's planner and the paperwork for the office if you haven't already.

Thank you!

A huge thank you to everyone this past week! Thanks for making our open house a success (everyone come either that night or the next day!), providing our classroom and your student with school supplies, and for getting paperwork back in a timely matter. It helped make our first week back to school run so smoothly!
