HCPS 411 Update

November 5, 2020

Coming Soon - Good to Great Moments

The Office of Organizational Development is excited to launch the Good to Great Moments project. The vision for this project is to equip all HCPS employees with tips, tools, and ideas to enhance the customer service mindset. Videos designed to depict real-life situations will demonstrate what excellent customer service looks, sounds, and feels like. Good to Great Moments will be featured monthly in the HCPS 411 Update... look for the first video in the series to be released later this month! As we all work to ensure HCPS customer service is top-notch, help us shine a light on the great moments happening every day in our schools and offices by recognizing your colleagues when excellent customer service is provided. We encourage you to send those names to HCPSprofessionallearning@hcps.org so we can highlight and share these tried and true service strategies across our system.

GET More Program

Are you interested in becoming a teacher? The Growing Exceptional Teachers More (GET More) Program is a program that provides tuition reimbursement equivalent of the negotiated tuition reimbursement rate for instructional staff (currently $300 per graduate credit hour) for employees who are represented by HCESC or AFSCME. The purpose of this tuition reimbursement assistance is to allow program participants to complete a teacher certification program in a high needs area of teacher education, with the ultimate goal of receiving their teacher certification and returning to work as a teacher in HCPS. This program is open to employees who have been employed with HCPS for one (1) or more years of service. More information is available by clicking the provided link: GET More Application

Questions on how to apply for this program should be directed to Benjamin Richardson, in Human Resources, at Benjamin.Richardson2@hcps.org.

Academic Tutoring

The Academic Tutoring program will resume this fall to provide students with academic and instructional supports throughout second quarter. The Academic Tutoring Coordinators, Catherine Jones and Kelly Mattingly, are working with the Office of Accountability to target our students most in need, using an equity lens. Students will receive tutoring services in a virtual, small group setting with HCPS teachers and paraeducators. If you are interested in employment as a tutor, please complete the survey here by November 6. Teachers will be compensated for tutoring at the 75% rate for time worked outside of the duty day. Paraeducators will be compensated at their hourly rate. Upon completion of the survey to indicate your interest (after November 6), the Academic Tutoring Coordinators will send communication regarding orientation and tutor duties and responsibilities. With questions or concerns, please contact Academic.Tutoring@hcps.org.
