Egg Harbor Township High School
Week of April 24, 2022
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Greetings,
Now that Spring Break is behind us, the end of the year will be here before you know it!
Hopefully everyone rested up for the hustle and bustle to the finish line, graduation, and the end of the 2022 school year.
Great things continue to happen at the High School, both in academics and athletics! Starting with our EHT color guard taking first place this past Sunday at the TIA Chapter One “Regional A Class.” What a great way to segway into the Atlantic Coast Indoor Championships this coming weekend in Wildwood. Thanks to Mr. Aponte, Ms. Kleintz, Mr. Brooks and Mr. Wycoff for all their support and hard work to assure our student success! Good luck at the Atlantic Coast Championships!
On April 27, the High School celebrated and acknowledged all of our administrative assistants/secretaries on Administrative Assistant Day! They are the backbones of our school and really make a difference each and every day.
Wednesday, April 27, our Academy of Law and Business (ALAB), traveled to Seton Hall University. Here they had an opportunity to experience a fun packed day in the life of an SHU law student through presentations and tours of the campus.
Also on April 27, our PACE students experienced on site welding at the NJMEP in Bellmawr NJ. The program has been very successful in getting our students some great experiences. In fact, on April 28, the Pre-apprentice in Career and Technical Education Program had an evening meeting to offer parents and students background information about the apprenticeship program. There were two representatives we partnered with, The New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program and Atlantic Cape Community College, who spoke about the programming provided to the students this year to jump start them into high skill, high wage and in demand occupations. Parents and students were also provided with information about the scheduling opportunities for the next school year. In fact the CBS news team was here to cover the evening!
Our Teacher of the year, Mr. House, has received yet another award! He was recognized at a luncheon for the Metropolitan Business and Citizens Association (MBCA) as Educator of the year! He has also been asked to speak to the Atlantic County School Board Association at their dinner on May 11. We could not be more proud of our teacher and County teacher of the year!
Spanish-speaking families across the district came together last night here in the High School library for Noche Latina. District Bilingual Parent Coordinators Ms. Jenny Dilks, Ms. Paola Florido, and Ms. Yessenai Pereira provided an educational session for families centered on the topic of mental health and provided resources for parents/families to access. Thank you to the High School students who volunteered their time to assist during the evening.
In athletics, we have had great things happen as well and some incredible accomplishments by our student athletes.
This past week in Track and Field, at the Woodbury Relays, we had a student break a school record in pole vault! Congratulations to Addie Umphlett with a height of 9’6”!! Also had our 4x100 relay place 3rd at the Woodbury Relays! That relay consisted of, Jayda Green, Amari Pinkett, Isabella Cheeseman, and Alexa Ali. Great job everyone!
Best of luck at the Penn Relays!
Our boys tennis team went to the individual state championships held at Vineland High School on Tuesday April 27, First singles, Senior Donovan Sullivan made it to the quarterfinals held on Wednesday April 28. Best of luck to the team at the team championships May 23!
Girls Softball teams, both Varsity and JV took a trip to Orlando over break and enjoyed Universal parks while working hard during the day in the heat to beat all opponents! The girls are still undefeated!

Quadratics Basketball Project
Students will be making connections between math and sports . They will be shooting basketballs and using an app called "Motion Shot" to take still images of their shots. The arc of their shot can be modeled with a parabola which we have been studying in class. We will be using our images to analyze our shots and find the axis of symmetry, vertex, and y intercept for each student's shot. Students will make a poster to present their findings.

COMMUNITY PRIDE
Student Assistance Program and Resources
The High School has adopted a new bullying-prevention program for this school year!
#DAY1--a staff and student-led philosophy that will serve to foster a building-wide atmosphere of kindness and inclusion.
This program was started a few years ago in Bergen County by the Tyler Clementi Foundation and has gained momentum throughout the state and country for use in schools, community groups, workplaces, and sports teams. We even have 3 of our own students who were selected by the foundation as leaders for this initiative!
The premise is simple: the adults in the building make a “declaration statement” about behavior that is expected, as well as behavior that is unacceptable, and we all pledge to conduct ourselves accordingly. This includes seeking help when we witness unacceptable behavior occurring.
This notion is called being an #Upstander.
Has your student taken their #Upstander Pledge yet?!?
Have them sign into their school account and click here! 😊
