Mark's Monday Morning Memo
January 8, 2018
Happy New Year
I hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable winter break and welcome to 2018! It's a new year and a time to reflect, re-energize, recommit, reconnect, and reengage. Thank you for what you do every day for our students, families, and each other. I'm excited about the possibilities for 2018!
Line Basics/Hallway Review Week
This week we will focus on reinforcing Line Basics expectations. That will be the theme of this week's morning announcements. If you would like me to review and reinforce expectations with your class, please let me know. I'll be paying attention to and supporting these expectations with grade levels as they transition from the playground to the cafeteria during lunchtime. Stacey MacBlane-Meyer created a video that can be shown in classrooms. We'll share a link to that later today. I am offering a challenge to all classes this week. Every adult will be given a recognition certificate to hand to any teacher or class this week that you feel are modeling positive Line Basics expectations. At the end of the week, the class with the most certificates collected will be honored. I will work with the teacher of that successful class to plan for a reward activity. Certificates will be placed in your mailboxes and are available from Kristi so please find a class to recognize this week and thank you for your help with this!
School Wide Title I Process
Our district has submitted Gatewood's request to become a school-wide Title I school for next year. The next step in the process is to establish a Leadership Team that will work to develop Gatewood's plan that will be due in the spring. Julie Winslow will meet with this team on January 24, 2018, to share information and help us get started on the plan. If you are interested in being part of this Leadership Team, please let me know. Thank you!
