Sunset Summertime Week 3
Week of June 21st
Digging in the Garden!
Welcome to Week 3 !! This week we are getting in the dirt to find out what is growing there or what is crawling around.
Entomologist Expert
Grab your paper and pencil, you're on an adventure to study insects!
Then make a bar graph of the types of insects you found. Write questions that can be answered by looking at your graph and ask family members to answer your questions.
Bugs, Bugs Everywhere!
With your grown up, go on a nature walk. Look for bugs. Then, draw and write about what you saw on your walk. You can also read and talk about gardening and insects books.
Extraordinary Gardens!
Make a map of a real or imaginary garden. Plot a compass course through the garden. In your garden drawing, what would you plant and when should those plants be planted? Research the different growing seasons.
Bird's eye View
Bird's can be really good for some gardens. Look up bird houses what are some things different birds look for in a home? Design a birdhouse using recycled materials.
Taking a Mindful Walk Outside
Go on a mindful walk. Take account of what they sense as you walk around your town. Taking the time to determine what you see, smell, feel and hear will help ground you in the moment. Focus on using one of your senses at a time in order to help them narrow your focus. You can even write or draw what you see and hear.
