Summer mail and district office schedule
Summer Hours:
This year, summer hours will begin on Monday, June 3, 2019, and end on Friday, August 2, 2019. For all twelve-month employees, the District will be closed on Thursday, July 4th , in observance of Independence Day.
The Joseph M. Kiszka Educational Service Center and buildings will be open 8-4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Beginning November 26, 2018, scheduled daily work hours for 260 day employees were increased by 15 minutes. By adding 15 minutes to each work day, the accumulated work hours provided for 9 Fridays off during the summer months. Additionally, leave days taken at any time during the year will be calculated as 1.0 days (rather than 1.25 during the summer).
For those employees in the transportation department (such as mechanics) who maintain the 10 hour work days during the summer, the District is willing to treat all days throughout the work year as a 1.0 day, meaning summer days would no longer be subject to the 1.25 calculation, even for those employees working 10 hour work days during the summer.
In summary changes are as follows:
● All 260 day employees (except Transportation) had their workday extended by 15 minutes.
● All workdays (school year and summer) have the same work hours.
● 260 day transportation employees did not experience the 15 minute change in hours.
● Each summer there will be 9 “no work Fridays” built into the schedule.
● All vacation/personal/sick/work days (school year and summer) will be counted as a 1.0 day.
Please note that the use of personal days must meet the definitions in respective negotiated agreements or board policy.
Summer Mail Delivery:
From June 10 - August 2, mail will be delivered on Tuesdays and Thursdays to the field, while the District Office, Maintenance, and Warehouse will receive mail on a daily basis.
Normal daily mail delivery will resume to the field locations on Monday, Aug. 5.
Congratulations, Retirees!
The group was honored during our annual retirement celebration earlier this month. Read more about our retirees by viewing the retiree recognition booklet online.
Bus Bucks Amp Up!
The district participated in a “Bus Bucks Amp Up” incentive May 6-17. Students earned bus bucks from the bus drivers and aides for any positive behavior demonstrated on the bus. The bus with the most bus bucks from each building earned a certificate, photo with the driver and aide, and an announcement made in the building. Thank you to all of our staff who participated in this positive event for our students!

Save the Date: August 12, 2019 Institute Day
All staff scheduled to work on this date are required to attend. Staff members not scheduled to work Aug. 12 are invited to attend on a voluntary basis.
We trust it will be an inspiring and meaningful morning that will set the tone for the 2019-20 school year. More specific information will be shared as the event nears regarding parking and logistics. We look forward to seeing you there!
Share your feedback about our staff newsletter!
Today's publication marks four months of District 15 staff newsletters. As we end the school year, I ask that you consider taking an anonymous five-minute survey regarding the staff newsletters, so I can determine where improvements can be made for the future. I value your feedback, and appreciate your time!
During the summer, staff newsletters will be sent once per month until school resumes again in August.
Thanks for reading, and have a great summer!
