Principal's Message
Kai ora Parents/Whanau
School opened today with four bubbles operating. Some more children will join us as the week goes on. It was lovely to see the big smiles on the faces of the children who are with us today, and they have been busy working with their bubble teachers. For the parents who dropped their children off today, thank you for following our rigorous safety procedures. The drop off went very smoothly.
A big thank you for responding to our survey regarding sending children back to school. I really appreciate the efforts you have made to keep your child/children at home during Level 3. We only have a small number of children at school due to parents working in essential services. For those parents who have sent their child to school, you can be assured that we are carefully following safety procedures with social distancing and cleaning.
At this time I want to acknowledge and thank our awesome staff. Teachers have put in an incredible amount of work to ensure that children can continue their learning from home. As well, thanks to our relieving teachers and support staff who are working in one of the bubbles at school. Our support staff has been incredible with the help they have been giving to our teachers and students and the work with resources and staffing the front office. Cleaners also have gone the extra mile, ensuring the spaces that are being used by the bubbles have been cleaned. Richard, our caretaker, has been onsite since Monday putting things in place for the start today. It has been a huge effort so thank you everyone.
We have been blessed with beautiful weather today, the first day of Spring. Fingers crossed that the weather stays settled.
Hopefully, the Government will bring us into Level 2 soon so all our children can return to school. I can safely say that our Grandparents Mass will need to be rescheduled to perhaps the fourth term.
Have a great week.
God bless
David Macmillan
Message from DRS Bernie Hall
In a recent interview, Pope Francis, describing the pain and disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic, emphasised the importance of prayer. He reminds us to take time to pray, the sum of our collective prayers, don’t go unheard or unanswered. Prayer reminds us of our vulnerability. Like when the Apostles on their boat in the storm, turned to Jesus to save them (Mark 4:35-41) and He did.
Let's Be Better not Bitter!
As we prepare for today and tomorrow, we pray for the new normal to come. May our hearts be unified in Christ more than ever. May those special moments of seeing our friends and relatives again in person be all the more rich and treasured. Help us Lord, to come out of this pandemic better, not bitter. Help us to become more considerate of others, more mindful of how we can help one another in small ways, and how we can serve God better. We thank You that no matter how dire the times may seem, there is always hope of the dawn to come. Amen.
An important aspect of our Catholic school is pastoral care. Please do not hesitate to contact our Principal, or DRS, or our Parish Priests if you would like to chat, seek clarification, need assistance or spiritual support, or any other type of support you or your whanau may need. Galatians 6:10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone.
Here are some fabulous ideas for wellness during lockdown.
