Principal's Update

Happy New Year to all of our WMS families! A new year brings a fresh start and new beginnings, and it is my hope that our families are excited about all the possibilities that 2023 can bring! We hope everyone had a nice restful break and is ready to tackle the 2nd half of our school year.

Our 1st semester officially ends next Friday, January 13. This will be an early release day, with dismissal at 12:20 p.m. The afternoon is allotted for teachers and staff to work on grading and other required tasks to finish up the semester. At the secondary level, middle school and high school students will have either a final assessment, unit assessment, or project to complete to finish out the semester. Your child's team has probably sent out information regarding any upcoming assessments or projects. You can also check the team website for more information.

2nd semester will begin on Wednesday, January 18. Please encourage your child to check their 2nd semester schedule, as their elective courses will change. Please understand that we are typically unable to make elective changes due to class numbers and availability. If you have questions, please reach out to your child's grade level counselor.

Soon our students will be making their selections for the classes that they will take for the 2023-2024 school year. We will be communicating with you throughout this process about timelines and available classes whether your child will be attending Wentzville Middle School or Holt High School next year. Look for this information to be coming to you through email in the coming weeks.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child, feel free to reach out!

WSD Belonging and Culture Family Survey

As part of the WSD’s ongoing efforts to meet the goals within the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP), district surveys will be administered to students in grades K-12, families, and staff. The surveys are designed to solicit feedback about the sense of belonging created within each building as well as perspectives regarding building/department culture. Each school and department within the district will use this survey data to understand the current reality and to make improvements moving forward.

Families may begin taking the survey starting Jan. 4, by clicking here. The survey will remain open through Jan. 20.

The district windows for students to take the surveys are Jan. 30-Feb. 10 and May 1-19.

For more information regarding these surveys, including logistics about the administration of the surveys, a preview of the surveys, and information on how to opt out, please check out our WSD Belonging and Culture Survey page.
