Focusing on the Instructional Core
What is the task students are engaged in? What is your evidence?
-
Are clear learning targets posted? Have they been communicated to students?
-
What are students actually doing?
-
Can students articulate what they are learning and why they are learning the content standard?
-
Are student goals clear? Do students know their goals? Reading levels?

Math Coaching- Want some?
Ms. Plambeck, our lead math teacher, and I would like to offer some additional math support for interested folks.
She is available to do math coaching once a week for an ongoing commitment. This could include- observation/feedback, demo. lesson, managing ST Math, setting up systems for pulling small groups. I can provide some release time/extra prep time for you to collaborate.
Math Walk Through
In order to make sure we walk through when people are teaching math, I requested that you update your schedules in the google folder by Friday, 1/6 and make sure they are up to date.
The purpose of the walk through will be to observe implementation of the work we did in the Fall (differentiated groups, ST Math, pre-assessments, data driven instruction/planning, etc).
If you didn't update your schedule, please do this immediately so we can create a walk through schedule that takes into account everyone's math times.

January Tool of the Month: Courage!
Courage is the ability to do something that frightens you or to show strength in the face of pain or grief.
There are plenty of opportunities to discuss courage this month. You may want to link Courage to the upcoming Inauguration, to Black History Month, to the work of Dr. King, to introducing the history of the Black Panthers who began right in our neighborhood, to
Here are some ideas:

Hearing and Vision Screening - From Nurse Kally
I will come and get a few students at a time, depending on their maturity (ie. 5 for K, TK, & 2, 1/2 the class at at time for older grades).
Can you please remind all students with glasses to bring them on the day(s) of the screening? If you have any inflexible time restrictions, please let me know.
Go Glenview Grantwriters!
-Ms. Plambeck and Mr. Litt who used Donor’s choose and got additional chrome books for 4th grade.
-Ms. Trisby who collaborated with our awesome parent volunteer and received a projector for her class (and thanks to those of you who forwarded this link to friends and family to help fund this!.
-Special Ed team who got a $500 grant for our upcoming disability awareness assembly performance.

- Ms. Bri who received a grant to fund her students going to camp

Thanks to all of your for leadership to help support our students' needs.
If I missed someone, please send me a reminder! Apologies! It's hard to keep up with all these successful grants!
Lunch Time
Also remind students that Ms. Erica always allows students to stay in to eat that aren't finished. If students are complaining about not having enough to eat, they are welcome to continue to eating while the other kids head out to play.
Remember that we are an Eco-System- Please Pick Up Students from the Yard on Time!
Our noon supervisors have other job obligations (working in SDC classes, teaching preps, teaching LLI, helping in TK), if 4/5th grade teachers are late, noon duties have to wait and this effects your colleagues who are waiting for classroom support, students who are waiting to get help and effects the noon duties who are trying to get to their next obligation.
