Westview Weekly

Success for all, whatever it takes!

Issue 10: October 12-16, 2015

Good morning, and happy Monday! As I walked in the building this morning, the crisp air, the sunshine, and the surprise decoration of our Westview sign reminded me how lucky we are to come to work in such a special place each weekday. While our loads are often overflowing with both work and home life, I find it invigorating that each of you always finds a way to go the extra mile to make learning engaging, fun, and intentional for our students. For all of these things, I am grateful.

I am also grateful for the perfect weekend that graced us this past weekend...other than the total collapse of Kansas City professional sports teams. The fall weather was perfect for playing in the yard, trips to the pumpkin patch, cider mill, outdoor weddings, sports and other weekend activities. I hope that each of you were able to find some time to relax, unwind, and rejuvenate for the week ahead.

And remember, just as Misty's photo on our group Facebook says, "...You can handle whatever this week throws at you." We can handle this because we are a great team! We are great because we know why we exist, we create spaces for learning, we have healthy conflict, we trust each other, and we all help steer this ship at some time or another (thanks for the great article, Amy Weber).

I wish each of you a blessed week, and I hope that you go through it knowing that I am here to help with whatever you need (within reason). Just ask!

Educationally yours,

Brandyn

Team Meetings - Wednesday

We look forward to meeting with each of you this week to discuss Parent/Teacher conference expectations. The reading specialists would also like to touch base with you regarding Pathways (K-2) and Guided Reading groups (K-5). They want to ensure that each of you have what you need to be successful, and if not, they want to know what you need. Please come prepared to discuss each of these items.

Professional Learning Communities

We do not have a scheduled collaboration time this week (compensation for the additional hour spent at Open House).
