Patumahoe School 18th of May 2022

Principal's Desk

Kia ora parents, caregivers, and extended whanau

We are pleased to announce that Mr Todd Williams has been appointed to the position of Deputy Principal (senior syndicate). Ms Maree Phillips has been redeployed as Deputy Principal (junior syndicate). We are excited by the knowledge, skill and passion Mr Williams will bring to the role. He will be officially starting in the role tomorrow. I am sure you will join us and congratulate Mr Williams.

Heroes for Hospice dressup day

Tomorrow is a dressup day. It is a fundraiser for Franklin Hospice. Please bring a gold coin donation and dress up as your hero. Heroes come in many forms. Naturally many kids will think of batman, spiderman and other fictional characters as heroes, but remember that everyday heroes walk among us. Our local fire brigade, police officers, surf lifesavers, sport coaches, teachers and so on are in my eyes heroes because they help others out by giving back. Just some food for thought when thinking about how you may dressup. I even overheard some of our tamariki saying they are going to come dressed as Mr Tawhiti.

Winter bugs and colds

As we enter the colder months, it is to be expected that there will be an increase in household winter colds and flus in addition to "you know what" (which will be with us for a while). So we expect a few extra children to be away sick over the coming months. Parents, we kindly ask that you closely monitor your children and keep generally unwell children at home to avoid the spread of illness.

Pink Shirt day

We want to celebrate Pink Shirt day this Friday the 20th of May because Patumahoe School wants to stand together with Aotearoa NZ and put a stop to bullying. We encourage our students to wear anything pink to school. We will not be collecting any money for this day as we are already doing a mufti fundraiser for Heroes for Hospice tomorrow, but we want to be a part of the movement. So please wear something pink on Friday.

Have a great week

PADDOCK TO PLATE

We are lucky enough to welcome back Paddock to Plate this term with Mrs Jamieson. This is such an amazing programme where our children get to learn about growing vegetables, picking them ,creating something delicious in the kitchen then eating what they have made.

Please support this great programme when it is your child's classroom.
