Dear Families,
REMINDER!! No School tomorrow, Monday, February 26th, due to our professional learning day for staff!
Thank you to all the parents who attended Parent Teacher Conferences!
Thank you, as well, to those who contributed to our staff breakfast & lunch times and for those that volunteered in our Scholastic Book Fair! We appreciate the partnership that is so necessary for a school to be successful!
Due to our snow/ice day last Tuesday, we will be practicing our lock down drill for both AM and PM classes next week, March 6th.
We hope your BUTTER BRAID fundraiser is going well! Just a reminder that all orders and money are due on Thursday, March 1st.
This week is Dr. Seuss & Read Across America Week! We will be having special dress up days to celebrate. Please read more information about these days in this newsletter.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
We have some exciting reading activities planned. To celebrate our reading we will get to dress up all next week. We will be focusing on one of the greatest children’s authors, Dr. Seuss.
Tuesday - Crazy Socks Day-featured book, “Fox in Socks”
Wednesday - Backwards/Crazy Hair Day - featured book, “Wacky Wednesday”
Thursday - Wear Your Favorite Color Day - featured book, “One Fish, Two Fish”
Friday -Favorite Hat Day. featured book, “Cat in the Hat.”
As always, we encourage our families to read, read, READ!
Washington & A Child's Imagination PTO UPDATES!
February 26th-March 2nd is Read Across America Week, with Dr. Seuss' birthday being celebrated on March 2nd. PTO will be providing a special popcorn snack for students and Ms. Brethouwer will be reading Dr. Seuss stories in each classroom during the week.

The Washington/ACI PTO will be having a fundraiser to help raise money for school resources, programs, and activities. We are asking for your help in selling Butter Braid Pastries. The pastries come in a variety of flavors and simply need to rise and bake.
Each child received a fundraiser packet on Tuesday, February 13th, which included detailed information, an order form, and an envelope to enclose money and return to school.
The fundraiser will run from February 13th-March 1st. The Butter Braids will be ready to pick up at Washington School on March 13th from 11:00am-1:00pm.
If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher, or Mrs. Baumler at abaumler@neenah.k12.wi.us. We hope that you will join us in continuing to help our PTO provide fun activities for our students!

Description:
Wisconsin school districts are finding it increasingly difficult to hire and retain qualified substitute teachers. To combat this shortage area, CESA 6 has designed and will
be conducting one-day Substitute Teacher Training.
The goal is to teach and engage prospective substitute teachers in activities that mirror real classroom situations.
The instructor will model a variety of teaching methods that substitute teachers can use in the classroom. Additionally, participants will gain a deeper understanding of effective teaching principles in order to prepare them for future substitute teaching assignments.
Training topics:
- Introduction to substitute teaching
- Practical tips and guidelines for being effective in the classroom
- Classroom management techniques
- Important health and safety information/requirements
- Age-appropriate learning strategies
- Special Education
- Sample lesson plans
- Substitute teacher permit application process
Who should attend:
Individuals who hold a (two-year) Associate’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university. Training is geared to those NEW to Substitute Teaching and/or those interested in growing their skills as a Substitute Teacher.
COST: $100 (Payment due with registration)

Absence Policy
Also, If you child takes the bus, please include melissa.kobussen@kobussen.com in your email so the bus company can inform the driver to skip your child's pick-up that day.
Your email or voice message should include the following information:
- Child's name
- Child's teacher
- Reason for absence
We will record this information in our attendance system, and let your child's teacher know.
If you do not call the office, you should expect a call from us.
