Practice Records

All students are required to practice at home to improve their musical skills. This is our 'homework' for orchestra. Students will need to record the number of minutes practiced each day on the practice record in their binder. A weekly formative grade is given for at-home practice. An example of a practice record grade: if a student practices 90 minutes per week, the grade received is a 90.

Practice records are due at the beginning of class every Monday. Students need to have their parents sign the practice record each week. A 10 point deduction will be given for unsigned or late practice records.

We offer after school practice sessions in the orchestra room every day from 3:45 to 4:30 :)

Student Information Forms

All students received a packet of forms for orchestra. Please fill these out and return to Mrs. Pennington by ASAP

Orchestra Fees

All orchestra students will need to pay an annual fee of $60. After fees are paid, students will receive the following:

1 orchestra t-shirt
1 orchestra draw string bag
1 binder with pencil pouch and organizational materials

1 entry fee to MISD orchestra solo contest
1 entry fee to our Spring Orchestra Festival (entry fees are $30 per student)

If you do not wish to bring your instrument back and forth to school each day, you can pay a $40 school instrument usage fee. You can leave your personal instrument at home for practice and use one of our school instruments for class.

Financial Aid

All students need to have their own instrument, bow and method book for school and home practice. However, we do understand that some of our families cannot afford to rent or purchase instruments and supplies. If you would like to request a financial aid application, please email Mrs. Pennington.
