iReady Benchmark: This week marks the third diagnostic for iReady. As you prepare scholars for the test, encourage them to show what they know and do their best. Set them up for success with scratch paper and a quiet learning environment. Each grade should have received a schedule for testing. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.
Look Fors:
Instructional: Mini Lesson: Check for Understanding: As you plan your mini-lesson, ensure you set up a series of checks for understanding to ensure scholars are internalizing the lesson. A CFU should poll the entire group in order to ensure ALL scholars are following the lesson.
Cultural: The Power of Words: “Show your students you care. Even on days when they’re not listening, or they didn’t do the reading and they’re driving you crazy altogether. Still show them. Tell them that they matter. Tell them you believe in them. In a world that is not always kind to our students, show them you always will be.” #teachersofinstagram The last sentence stopped me this week. May we be a space that uplifts and builds up scholars in a world that will more often than not tear them down.
