PANTHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Dear ICCS Parents,
In a year with so many learning curves and so many demands put on the shoulders of our ICCS faculty, these devoted teachers consistently seem to gracefully balance everything that 2020-2021 has thrown at them. From following safety protocols and procedures to challenging and connecting with our in-person and virtual learners in the same classroom space, our teachers have done so with open hearts and open minds. As I have said before, our teachers are tasked with many, many things that are not visible to our community, are not boasted about openly, and are not recognized on a daily basis as they should be. Our abundantly gifted and humble teachers simply do what is required, which in this year is certainly above and beyond what any educator would normally do. This being said, I think it is important for our community to know that just because we are tasked with so much more this year does not mean our teachers have not continued their own learning. In fact, this year and mostly in this second semester of the school year, our teachers have been busy continuing their learning for the benefit of our students this year and in years to come, for example:
- Mrs. Stine, Ms. House, Mrs. Koenig, Ms. Wilson, Mrs. Brown, Ms. Wilder, Mrs. Bushnell, Mrs. Schwartzenburg, and Ms. LeBlanc recently had diocesan ASCD math training.
- Mr. Higgins was trained on the use and implementation of Socratic Seminars.
- Mrs. Schlang, Ms. Solari, and Mrs. Welch completed training on enhancing CKLA planning and practices, as well as CKLA data, drive instructional strategies.
- Mrs. Welch completed 30 hours of training for Brainspring’s Phonics First.
- Mrs. Baron and Mrs. Romano completed training on enhancing ELA planning and reading practices in the classroom.
- Ms. LeBlanc completed training on "Kagan Instructional Practices in the COVID 19 classroom."
- This weekend, Ms. House, Mrs. Stine, Ms. Wilson, Mrs. Koenig, Ms. Wilder, and Mrs. Brown will continue their education with CKLA planning, practices, and small group instructional strategies.
- ALL PBL 101 trained teachers (Mrs. DuRousseau, Mrs. Forsyth, Ms. House, Ms. Wilson, Mrs. Koenig, Mrs. Brown, Ms. Solari, Mrs. Schwartzenburg, Mrs. Falcon, Mrs. Schlang, Mrs. Romano, Mr. Higgins, Mrs. Ebersole, Senora Barrios, Mrs. Heffer, Mrs. Jessen, and Ms. Vanchiere) are continuing their PBL education by working one-on-one with PBL trainer, Dori Berg to build gold standard PBL projects for the 2021-22 school year.
- Mrs. Viau is also working on lengthy coursework for our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program which will be ongoing through summer.
- Mrs. Stine, Ms. Wilder, Mrs. Baron, Mrs. Thibodeaux, Ms. LeBlanc, and Ms. Davis will undergo the rigorous PBL 101 training during BIE's PBL World training this summer.
- Mr. Higgins will also complete the Kagan Distance Learning Strategies this summer.
Kudos to our amazing teachers for all their hard work and dedication to our school, to their students, and to our school community!

PRAYER AGAINST THE CORONAVIRUS
O Mary, you shine continuously along our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the Cross were near to the pain of Jesus, keeping your faith firm.
You, Salvation of the Roman people, know what we need, and we trust that you will provide for those needs so that, as at Cana of Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this moment of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us, He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and took up our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.
We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
