Hello Parents and Families

I'm hoping this newsletter finds you and your family well. You should have received (or will very soon) a postcard in the mail informing you of our upcoming parent teacher conferences that will take place on February 22nd and 23rd. This is a great opportunity to get an update on your students progress this quarter. It's especially important for eighth grade parents to talk with your child's science, math and English teacher about recommended class placement as they move on to high school.


Our first all school social will take place Friday, February 11 from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. here at the school for all North Pole Middle School students (no guests). This event is hosted by the wrestling team. The cost to get in is $5 and there will be a concession stand available for students to buy snacks. Below is a list of our social rules:



  • All students stay in the building during the social, no going outside and then
  • coming back in.
  • The main hallways are off limits until the end of the social when you can get
  • your coat and bag to go home.
  • All school/district rules apply while at the social.
  • If I am absent from school on the day of the social I cannot attend.
  • If I am in discipline status, OSS or ISI on the day of the social I cannot attend.
  • I will have a ride home to pick me up by 4:45 p.m



We're looking forward to holding socials again and hope this first one is successful for all.


February 21st is a professional development day so no school for students and as was mentioned above February 22nd and 23rd are parent teacher conference days. Enjoy a long weekend with your kids.

Hutchison High School Lottery

8th graders who want to attend Hutchison High School next year:

The application deadline is Wednesday, February 16, at 3:00 pm. Because the number of applicants exceeds the space available at Hutchison, names will then be drawn in a lottery.

Volleyball Open Gym for Boys and Girls

January 13, 18, 20, 25, 27 and February 1, 3, 8, 10 we will have volleyball open gym at North Pole Middle School from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m.


Students must have the following documents to participate:


  • Concussion Acknowledgement Form (good for the school year)
  • Activity Consent Form (needs to be completed for each activity a student participates in)

Our new school start and end times for students are 7:50 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.


Students can be dropped off in the morning at 7:00 a.m. at which time doors will be opened.


Students should plan on leaving the school by 2:35 p.m. unless they are in an after school activity sponsored by school staff.

Just a reminder to please drive safely, cautiously, and respectfully when dropping your student off in the morning and picking up in the afternoon.
Bus Deviations

Bus Deviations

A bus deviation is a request for your student to ride a bus that they aren't registered for already and that they don't usually ride.


A few helpful hints on how to request a bus deviation:


  • It MUST be requested in writing via notes, email (contact-npm@k12northstar.org) or fax to 907-488-9213. Students may NOT write their own notes.
  • If you send one by email, you will get a reply saying we received it. If you don’t get a reply please call 488-2271. Bus deviations must be submitted by 1:00 p.m. If it is an early release day bus deviations must be submitted by 11:30 a.m. If you submit an email after 11:00 a.m., please call to confirm receipt.



-Your request needs to have the following information on it:

  • Your student's name
  • Bus number (route) and the name of the street it stops at (if you don't know this, you can call the transportation office at 907-452-2000 and select option 4)
  • How long the deviation is good for (just that day or for the whole school year as needed)
  • Parent's name and contact information
  • Our fax number is:(907)488-9213

Reminder that both breakfast and lunches are free for ALL STUDENTS for the 2021-2022 school year, no paperwork and no strings attached. The link for our Nutrition Services Department is here, https://www.k12northstar.org/nutrition if you would like more information.


Any “a-la-cart” items that the cafeteria may sell will be sold to students and that money will come out of their lunch account. Information about the cost of items can be found below.
