End of the Year Test Administrator Trainings

There are two optional dates: Monday, May 16 after school from 3:45-5:00 pm (in the Media Center) OR Thursday, May 19 during planning periods (in grade level leader classrooms). Make sure to bring the testing plans that were placed in your box on Friday afternoon, a pen, and a highlighter. Thank you!
CROSS COUNTRY/RUN FOR KICKS
WLNC has been running spots for the Spring Hill Run for Kicks Fundraiser! Join Spring Hill Middle School for the Spartans 2016 Run for Kicks
(all ages welcome, including strollers and wheelchairs)
OUR MISSION
To raise funds for all Spring Hill Runners in both Cross Country and Running Club to have new, proper long distance running shoes. Any surplus earned will be used to provide funding for students to participate in additional local and state 5K’s throughout the school year.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Racing events will be held on Saturday, May 21st at 9 am, with start and finish at Pate Stadium on the campus of Scotland High School.
Friday, May 20th: Packet Pickup: 8-9 am or 3-5 pm at Spring Hill Middle School
Saturday, May 21st
Late Registration and Packet Pickup: 7:30-8:30 am
One Mile Fun Run/Walk: 9 am
5K Run/Walk begins: 9:30 am
Pate Stadium/Scotland High School
Registration Fees:
One Mile
Early Spartan (before April 29th): $8.00 for all
After April 29th: $10.00 for all
Group Discount (8 or more business/church/school = $6.00 per person)
MUST have a representative register your group such as a Pastor, School Administrator, etc.
5K
Early Spartan (before April 29th): $10.00 for Students ( K-12th or valid college ID); $15 for Adults
After April 29th: $15.00 for Students (K-12th or valid college ID); $20 for Adults
Group Discount (8 or more business/church/school = $8.00 per person)
MUST have a representative register your group such as a Pastor, School Administrator, etc.
Top three finishers in each age division, as well as top three overall will receive awards. Every participant that registers by May 5th is guaranteed a special event t-shirt.
WiFi on School Busses
Starting in May, we have been adding WiFi on school busses. Internet is available based on Verizon cell service. Students are encouraged to use while on the bus. On busses, we are allowing FaceBook, YouTube and other social media websites. As always, adult material will still remain blocked! Password for bus WiFi is: scsbus1! (same for all busses)

8th Grade Science Teachers...DID YOU KNOW there are drag and drop items on the 8th grade EOG???? These items will count this year...they are not field test items...let's practice those if we haven't.
Here are some review game ideas... REVIEW GAME CENTRAL (This is from pinterest; I will share a few of these during our PLC Tuesday.
WE will also finalize our 10 Day plans Monday and Tuesday. I am creating a Canvas Course for remediation so we can drop some lessons and resources there. Let me know if there is a specific resource you would like to use.

HALLWAYS AND TRANSITION REMINDERS
Bus dismissal was much smoother this Friday. Make sure you align your students before dismissal. They should be quiet in the hallways at all times.
Spartans R.O.A.R.- Your class may be turned around by an administrator if the class is not following our hallway procedures and expectations.

MEDIA CENTER HAPPENINGS
Spring picture proofs are in! Parents may order online (mylifetouch.com) or return the enclosed form to the school and homeroom teachers can collect money in the envelope provided. The due date is May 16th. Please encourage students to buy pictures….this is a fundraiser for the school.
· The Technology team will be at Spring Hill on Tuesday, May 17th at 2 pm to do the end of year assessment of all electronic equipment. The equipment that will be assessed is as follows: laptops, I Pads, Chromebooks. They will be in the media center at the scheduled time, and any equipment that is listed and assigned to you will need to be brought in for the assessment. They will check for damaged screens, bezels, chargers, etc. Anyone that cannot get their equipment in that day will be responsible for bringing it to the Technology Dept personally to be assessed as they are on a set schedule to get all school locations complete. (The Media Center will be closed to students during this time.)
· CTE classes will hold interviews in the Media Center with their students during 8th
grade electives on Thursday and Friday (5/19-5/20). The Media Center will be closed during that process.
· EOG play practice will be Monday and Tuesday after school.
District Food Bank Located at Central Office
With a generous donation from Campbell's Soup, we have a food bank at Central Office for families/students that need food. Whether it is a homeless family or just a family who is struggling, we can provide some food for them. Contact Mrs. Fehlman if you have a student in mind.
