August Office Hours
First Day of School-- August 26, 2019--Half Day and a BBQ for All New Students
The first day of school is August 26th for Freshmen and new students of all grades. This will be a half day (8:30-12:00) with all 8 classes so that students can learn their way around the campus. A free BBQ lunch will be provided by the Leadership Team on the quad. (vegetarian options available). Buses will run at 12:50. Detailed schedule coming soon.
The first day of school for returning students is August 27th.

School Supply List
At the high school level there is no set school supply list. Students can organize their supplies in the manner they prefer and if there are any special supplies needed, their teachers will tell them on the first day of class.

Students who attended AHS last year as well as students coming from AMS, Willow Wind or John Muir Schools will register through the parent PowerSchool site: https://ps.ashland.k12.or.us/public/home.html

All students entering high school must register for the 2019-2020 School Year via the parent PowerSchool account. Although students may already have their schedules, that is not an indicator that they have registered. https://ps.ashland.k12.or.us/public/home.html
Current Ashland High School Students
Proof of Residency Required for Registration
Freshmen and New Students will be asked to upload TWO proofs of residency:
1. One must be either a current mortgage statement, escrow papers, property tax bill or a current rental agreement signed by both parties.
--AND--
2. the other must be a current utility bill, financial statement, pay stub, insurance papers (car, home, health) or government documents (social security, WIC, Oregon Health plan, Unemployment Insurance) *Please note that drivers licenses and telephone bills are not accepted*
Students who do not have Proof of Residency prior to the first day of class are in danger of having their classes dropped.
You can upload a scan or a clear photograph directly to the registration page or you can bring the paperwork in to the office beginning August 7th.

Math Placement Test-- all students who are new to Ashland School District must complete a math placement test in room H-25 before receiving a schedule. Math Placement Test Date:
Tuesday, August 20 2:00-400
Monday, August 26 12:30-2:30 (first 1/2 day of school)

Spanish Testing
Spanish Placement Test-all new (coming from out of Ashland School District)students who wish to enroll in Spanish 2 or higher must complete a Spanish Placement Test by contacting Gladys.Contreras@ashland.k12.or.us
Picture Day

Sports Physicals
Sports physicals will be held on Tuesday, August 13 from 8-1 no appointment necessary. Parents must sign the physical form OSAA School Sports Pre-Participation Examination

It is a pleasure to serve the school and music program here at AHS, and this year is going to be fun and exciting. You will usually receive at least one email a week letting you know about schedules, performances, and other updates for the Band Program

There are over 50 clubs to join on campus! All clubs are student-led and most are held during lunch. If you would like to start a new club, you can pick up a form in the main office. Here is a list of last year's clubs for reference-- clubs for 2019-2020 may be different.

Welcome Class of 2023!
This August, all incoming 9th graders will have the opportunity to attend the AHS Fresh Start Orientation Retreat at Mt. Ashland Lodge. This unique overnight program will prepare new students for the transition into high school with a wealth of fun and valuable activities led by AHS Leadership Staff and trained junior and senior high school counselors. Students will learn helpful problem-solving techniques, build meaningful friendships, get the answers to high school’s Big Questions, and much more. If you have a cool talent (singing, playing music, poetry, dance, etc.) we’d love for you to perform at our Open Mic !
Students are assigned to a session based on their Grizz Academy classes-- if you are unable to attend your assigned session you are welcome to attend either of the other sessions.
Please arrive in the Science Parking Lot (corner of Siskiyou and Morse) at 8:00AM on the day of your session. Students will return to the same location at 2:00pm the following day.
DO BRING: Sleeping bag, pillow, sleeping pad, toothbrush, change of clothes, sweatshirt, sensible clothing and footwear suitable for outdoor workshops as well as musical instruments, songs, poems, stories and skit ideas for Open Mic.
Do NOT bring: Cell phones, money, any illegal items or any valuable items.
