CB West National Honor Society Thanks You!

This year has been an historic one for the CB West National Honor Society (NHS). This year we have managed to raise $2,398.84 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. All of this money will be donated directly to the foundation. We would like to thank all students that either donated money or got their parents to help out. Without your help and your donations, we could certainly never have raised anywhere close to our final total.

Of course, we must give out a huge shout out to all of our amazing teachers at CB West. As an incentive to our students this year, NHS managed to get a number of teachers to participate in a fun dare. Teachers were able to set a price on their hair and if CB West as a school managed to meet the amount, that teacher would then have to dye, shave, or wear a wig. The teachers that we managed to raise enough money for were, Mrs. Mehalick, Mr. Meo, Mr. Licopoli, Mr. Breish, Ms. Stone, Ms. Levin, Mr. Campione, Mrs. Maida, Mrs. Payne, Mr. Mahoney, Mr. Wetzel, and Mr. Klein. Thank you to all of you (and the teachers that were just out of reach) for pushing CB West to fundraise more than we ever have before. We hope you all enjoy your new hair styles!

We would also like to thank our anonymous online donor who personally added $728.16 to our total. Finding that incredibly generous online donation, gave us just the perfecct last minute push. If you would like to come forward, we would love to thank you personally!

The amount of money we have raised this year is a true testament to how incredibly unique and caring our students and staff are at CB West. Thank you again to all that donated and spread the word! Hopefully we can raise even more money next year.

CB West Athletic Updates

Track & Field:

  • The CB West boys track team hosted Hatboro-Horsham this past Tuesday. The boys enjoyed a comfortable win and were able to record a number of qualifying times for the District Championships in a few weeks. The boys also enjoyed some success this past weekend at the Penn Relays. The boys ran a qualifying time in the 4 x 800 and were invited back for the Championship of America on Saturday where they finished 11th overall.

  • CB West Girls track team traveled to Hatboro-Horsham on Tuesday afternoon. They were able to secure the win and have some race-offs for final spots for the Penn Relays. The girls had a great experience at the Penn Relays. They finished 9th in their division on Thursday and fell just short of qualifying for the Championship of America race the next day. Maddie Villalba did register the third fastest split of the day!

Boys Tennis:

  • The boys had a relaxing week due to the weather. Their two scheduled non-league matches were postponed due to the rain. Their match-up this week with Spring-Ford will give them a great opportunity to prepare for the team tournament for districts.

Boys Volleyball:

  • The boys were 3-0 this past week. On Monday, they were able to avenge their early season loss to Souderton by beating them 3-0. They then traveled to North Penn and Cheltenham later in the week and won both of those matches 3-0. The team is currently ranked 4th in the power rankings and play a big match at home tonight against Pennridge. The boys will also have big matches with CB East and Upper Dublin this week as they close out the regular season.

Lacrosse:

  • After a disappointing week that saw two consecutive losses to CB South and Methacton, the girls got back to their winning ways this past week. The girls opened the week with a nice win over Southern Lehigh. They traveled to Quakertown the next afternoon and dominated the game winning 19-3. Later in the week, they hosted CR South and won a comfortable game in the rain. The girls are currently ranked 16th in the district power rankings and hope to close out the season with some wins in hopes of securing a home play-off game.

  • The boys went 3-1 this past week. They opened up with Pennridge on the road Monday night and were able to secure the win. The boys then traveled to Souderton and Abington and won in convincing fashion. Both of these games saw valuable minutes for the reserves to prepare them for the play-offs in a few weeks. The boys did fall to North Penn on Friday night after allowing a late goal to break a tied game with just seconds to play. The boys are currently ranked 16th and are hoping to close out the season with some wins and secure a home play-off game for the seniors.

Softball:

  • The girls lost to CR South this past week and will play the remainder of their suspended game with Pennridge next Monday. They were ahead in that game by two runs when the game was called due to the rain. The girls are hoping to secure some wins and move up in the power rankings to get a spot in the district play-offs.

Baseball:

  • The boys opened last week with two losses to Palisades and Quakertown. They were looking forward to their league game with Pennridge later in the week but that was rained out. Not sure what the schedule will look like for the boys as Mother Nature is not cooperating. Stay tuned for more updates on the schedule for the remainder of the season.
