Counselor's Corner

Hafley Development Center

Welcome from Mrs. Steinberg

Welcome to our Pre-K family! Although it may look different this year, I am still excited to begin the new school year and to meet this year's cubs and their families! My name is Diana Puentes-Steinberg and I am the school counselor here at Hafley. Students will get to know me as Mrs. Steinberg. This will be my 12th year here at Hafley and my 17th year as a school counselor. My favorite thing about working at the Pre-K level is knowing that we mark the beginning of our students academic careers and we, along with our families, set the tone for what children will believe about themselves as learners and how they will feel about school in the future. This is a responsibility that our staff takes very seriously and we work purposefully to make our students first school experience a warm and positive one that will leave them with a desire to continue on to learn and do more. We are excited to begin this journey with you!
Student Concern Form

If at anytime during the school year you have concerns regarding your child please fill out and submit this form. It will also be found on my website.

Introduction Lesson

During the first two weeks of remote learning our teachers will be sharing my introduction lesson with students through their Teams accounts. In this lesson I share the story of The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister in order to explain to students a little bit about what my role is as a school counselor. I am also sharing the link to this lesson here as well as a link to another animated version of this story. Once your student has viewed my lesson please ask them to tell you about what the wise octopus did in the story.
