Farewell Message
The end of a school year always brings about change, and we wish farewell to a number of our staff that will be embarking on new journeys next year. Mrs. Steblyk will be moving on to retirement and is looking forward to spending quality time with her grandchildren as well as gardening. Mrs. Kucy has will be leaving us and joining OLA and St. John XXIII schools as their Collaborative Response Coordinator (CRC). Her expertise and experience in the area of students services will be greatly missed. Finally, we wish Ms. Clayton and Ms. Just all the best in wherever their teaching careers take them. Regarding our support staff, Ms. Gingras, our Library Tech and Educational Assistant, and Mrs. Preville, also one of our Educational Assistants, have both been placed in different buildings for next school year.
These staff members will be greatly missed as they have all positively impacted us with their passion, dedication, and energy. Please pray that the Lord watches over these staff members as they begin their new journey.
We would also like to welcome new staff members who will be joining us in September. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Lazarenko who will be teaching grade 5. We would also like to welcome Ms. Clarkson who will be teaching grade 6. Mrs. Morin who will be teaching grade 6 and is our new Collaborative Response Coordinator (CRC). New Teaching Staff
Ms. Andrea Clarkson
Hello St. JP2 Students and Families,
My name is Samantha Boehm and I am so excited to be a part of the St. JP2 staff next year! I am an Elementary Education graduate from the University of Alberta, and I have been so blessed to work within the EICS community for my first year of teaching. I may be a familiar face as I filled in for Mr. Weller in Grade 8 while he was away from September-December of this past year. I then jumped back into the elementary world and taught in a Grade 2/3 classroom at St. Luke Catholic School for the rest of the school year. I am thrilled to be back at St. JP2, as junior high has found a very special place in my heart and St. JP2 and I go way back (it was my high school!). I was born and raised in Fort Saskatchewan, and while I wasn't at school, you could find me at the dance studio. As I no longer dance, I spend most of my free time with my fur-child, Loki or travelling. I am so looking forward to next year to get to know all of you and once again be a part of the St. JP2 school community! See you in September :)
Chaplain's Corner
Wow!!! Where did the year go? It seems like only yesterday that we introduced our division theme, "Love First, Last and Always"
Our focus this year was to work together with our school, home and parish communities in an effort to help all see that we are called to love all who are part of God's family (which is everyone). As the end of the school year arrives, we are reminded that the goals and efforts we have worked on this year do not come to an end. With the opening up from isolation and increased interactions with people, we need to take more time to realize how patient and encouraging we need to be. This can be difficult for us but as Jesus tells us, being a follower of Him is not an easy journey.
Take time throughout the summer to continue praying to God for guidance and courage to do what we are called to do, be disciples of Jesus who brings the Good News to those we meet both in word and action.
I want to thank you for allowing me the opportunity to journey in faith with you and your children. May the summer be filled with an abundance of family interaction and continued relationship building.
Remember that God is always there for us and all we need to do is reach out to Him and allow him to show us the way. We love because He loved us First.
God Bless and watch over each of you during the summer and I look forward to seeing you in September.

School Demographic Forms
EICS Demographic Confirmation Forms are available now on your PowerSchool ParentPortal. Please take a moment to visit your PowerSchool ParentPortal account and complete this form; one for each child you have attending school with EICS.
Alberta Education requires that we obtain a detailed update of student demographics on an annual basis. School funding from Alberta Education is conditional on us receiving these updates and including them in your student’s record. More importantly, these forms ensure that we have the most current contact information if we need to reach you in event of an emergency.
We certainly appreciate you taking the time to complete these forms. Should you have any questions, or require assistance, please contact Carrie-Lynn in the office at 780-992-0889 and she will be happy to help.
Ensuring Positive Transitions
Some of these lenses include:
● Student learning capabilities
● Student learning styles
● Classroom functionality
● Learning strategies
● Medical/physical accommodations
● Class size
● Social/Emotional capabilities
We are confident in the class compositions that have been created by our teachers as they truly reflect many hours of collaboration and a genuine commitment to ensure optimal learning for all children.
However, we will not be assigning homerooms or cohorts until the end of August as much uncertainty still exists surrounding the pandemic and school re-entry in September. Once we receive further direction from Alberta Education by August 1st at the latest, we will have a clearer picture of how the education system will look next year. We are striving to create as much consistency as possible and limit the amount of change, and do not want to be in a position where we are forced to change class compositions multiple times over the summer break. Thank you for you understanding and patience with this process.

Playground Society Bottle Drive Fundraiser
Fort Saskatchewan Catholic School Families,
With the CFEP grant we received in April we are so close to making this dream of building a playground at St. John Paul II a reality. However, we still have a little more we need to raise to match the grant amount. With the continued support of both present and future students and families we are very optimistic we could start construction on the St. JPII playground site next summer. Thank you for the help thus far!
Please keep all your recyclables for our bottle drive fundraiser:
When: SUNDAY, JULY 5th 1:00-3:30pm Where: St. JP2 bus loop ( 9975-93 Ave) Who: Everyone and please share with your friends and family on social media. What do I do when I arrive?: Because of Covid-19 we will be asking that drivers pull up to the side of the trailer and stay in the vehicle we will be wearing masks and gloves and will take the bottles out of your truck or trunk once we are done we will step away and wave :) If you would rather take it out of your vehicle please exit your vehicle and let us know and we will remain 6 feet away for your protection. How can I help?: Besides sharing your bottles with us, we are looking for 2 drivers to do collections at other locations. People will place their bottles at the edge of their driveways for a fast and easy pick up. Once you have a full load we would unload from the truck or van.
Can't make it but have bottles to donate?: If you can't make it during that time but have bottles you can do one of two things:
1. On Sunday anytime before 1:00 drop off your bottles on the sidewalk of the bus loop.
2. Anytime before Sunday email samledrew1@gmail.com or on Sunday you can text or call 780-722-4442 with your address and let us know you have bottles you need picked up!
