Exciting Events at Lincoln in October!
Fall Conferences start this week!
What's New in the Library
Our students have been busy learning in the library this year. All students have discussed the rules of the Fargo Public Schools Acceptable Use Policy for technology. They’ve also had the chance to meet Matthew Cordell, the Caldecott award-winning author and illustrator of Wolf in the Snow!
Kindergarten and first grade have been focused on finding books on the shelf and taking good care of books. Second graders have focused on finding the right book to exercise their brains, understanding the different sections of the library, and using technology to practice math.
Our third, fourth, and fifth grade students have reviewed their library skills, talked about finding good books, and discussed how call numbers are used.
In other news, we are beginning our annual Pumpkin Drawing. All students have the opportunity to illustrate a picture of a pumpkin in order to enter a drawing to win a pumpkin. Our drawing will be held on Monday, October 28th.
Finally, our Scholastic Book Fair is on its way! The book fair will run from Tuesday, October 22nd to Friday, October 25th, and will be open during the PTA-sponsored Fall Festival. Tuesday-Thursday, the fair will be open for business from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. On Friday, it will run 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM and 5:45 PM to 8:00 PM. We hope to see you there with your student! (We are also grateful for all volunteers!)
As always, thank you all for encouraging a love of reading and instilling in your student the responsibility of returning books on time.
Sincerely,
Library Media Center Staff
Physical Education
Hello Lincoln Families!!
One of our big statements for PE is, “I can ACTIVELY participate in physical education class!” Our philosophy for Lincoln PE is to be fitness based during our first half of PE and work on skills our second half.
A change we have had this year in the Lincoln PE department is we added ANOTHER new PE teacher! Welcome Mr. Butler to Lincoln. Mr. Butler will also be out at Recess time.
We are going to try something new this year. We have started a Lincoln Elementary PE Instagram account! The account name is lincolnelementarype. The account is to show you what we are doing in Physical education!
Couple Major things with the account:
1. We will follow FPS media guidelines for those students that do not have the media form. If they do not have the form or consent, they WILL NOT be in any pictures or videos.
2. We will not follow anyone back
3. No comments will be allowed, only the ones for explaining the picture or video
4. I will be very diligent on making sure I know who is being added. If you don’t get added, please send me a message.
Anytime you have questions or concerns please give the PE Department a call or email!
Thanks for everything you and your family do for Lincoln!

Please help us keep students safe!
If you pick up your child from school at the end of the day, we need all vehicles to park parallel to the school so children can safely walk from the sidewalk to the waiting vehicles. Please drive north on 9th street when picking up students. It is essential that we keep a single file line of cars moving north. When vehicles are double –parked or are moving south, it means students must run in between vehicles. This is extremely dangerous. Even though there is a lot of traffic, the cars clear out quickly. Please wait patiently for a spot to pull up and pick up your child safely. THANKS!
Traffic Safety:
- Single file traffic moving north.
- Do not leave vehicle unattended.
- Be patient– traffic clears out quickly.
- Never double park or have children run between cars.
Tardies/Absences/Appointments
Tardies: Our first bell rings at 8:10. This is the time when students are allowed to go to their lockers and inside their classrooms. Students must be in their classrooms by 8:20. The time from 8:10 to 8:20 is important for organizing and preparing for the day. It is important for all of our students to be on time…meaning in the classroom and ready to learn at 8:20.
Absences: If your child will not be in school, please call our office staff at 446-4900. If we do not hear from you, our office will be calling to check the whereabouts of your child…your child’s safety is always our number one concern. Being on time and having good attendance is crucial for learning. When a child is habitually absent/tardy, there is a negative impact on learning. If you are ever having trouble with getting your child to school on time or your child feeling sick too often, please call the office. Our school counselor, Amy Blesie, would be happy to work with you and offer support and suggestions.
Appointments: If you need to pick up your child during the day, please come to the office to sign he/she out. The office will call your child out of his/her classroom. Due to district policy, we are unable to call your child out of the classroom before you have arrived at the school.
