# 1B Update #15

## What's happening in 1B!

Time flies when you're having fun! We have spent the last few weeks finalizing projects and finishing up our writing. We are excited to share with you some of our learning at the Curriculum Share!

We are big fans of poetry, particularly silly poems! We practiced visualizing the mental image that is created by the author through the use of their words. We read the poems with partners and then drew the picture we visualized in our minds. In writing, we finalized our five senses poem, our shape poem, and our rhyming poem and published them in our very own poetry book.

Math

We have reach the end of our math unit this term. Our students have been busy finding all different combinations that we can make with coins. The kids really enjoyed counting money because they were able shop and purchase items from each other. We had math centers where the students enjoyed revisiting activities they loved doing this year. We wrapped up math by delving deep into word problems. Going through them step-by-step understanding what the problem is asking us to do and what would be the best operation sign to help us solve. We encourage all families to work on comparison word problems at home. A way to support at home is to have them compare the numbers in a word problem and find what the two numbers have in common, then to find the difference to solve the problem.

## Inquiry Time!

Here we are busy putting our projects together! We each selected a celebration we were interested in knowing more about and then researched it. As a group, we decided the most important part of the celebration that we wanted others to know about and then created a visual representation of it.

## Opening Ceremony!

We performed our dance for the whole school! We will reveal the dance on Monday at the Curriculum Share.

## Thank You!

We wanted to say thanks for all of the help you have provided this year! We greatly appreciated the donations, time, emails, and conversations we had with each and everyone of you that helped us to create such a successful year for the 1B Team Fierce Cheetahs. If we don't see you in the next few days to say it in person, we want to tell you THANK YOU for all the support this year.

Best,

Emily and Kendra
