SBS Weekly Update
June 12th, 2022
Principal's Notes
This past week was surely a busy one at SBS with the Cardinal Spellman Field Day for our older students, field trips and our 8th Grade Graduation festivities.
Our 5th, 6th and 7th Graders enjoyed the field day at Cardinal Spellman High School and came away with the Cardinal Cup! The victory was truly a team effort. It was great to see our students working, cheering for and encouraging each other.
Congratulations to our Graduating 8th Grade Class. We had 14 students graduate Friday night. They are heading off to high school fully prepared and ready to achieve great things.

As we wrap up the school year for Preschool - Grade 7 this week I would like to thank everyone for their support this year. Our teachers, staff and students made it through a tough year of ever-changing rules and challenges. Of course there were bumps along the way, but they only made us stronger!
Thank you to all of our school parents for supporting SBS and for choosing Catholic education for their children. Thank you to our PTO for their commitment to raising funds and holding events to enrich our community.
I hope everyone has a wonderful summer!
All my best,
Matthew Collins
Principal
Academic Spotlight - Thank You! - Ms. Walls
The 2004 world series was the championship series of Major League Baseball’s 2004 season. The 100th edition of the World Series was a best-of-seven playoff between the American Leaguechampion Boston Red Sox and the National League champion St. Louis Cardinals and the Red Sox swept the Cardinals in four games. The series was played from October 23 to 27, 2004, at Fenway Park and Busch Memorial Stadium. As a dedicated Red Sox fan, Ms. Walls remembers that not only did the Red Sox win but November 2004 was also the year that she became the third grade teacher at St. Bridget School!
Carol Walls always wanted to be a teacher. She fondly remembers visiting the school that her mom and dad worked at and helping out the teachers in their classrooms. She helped to make learning packets for the teachers and organize classrooms. One day, she spent time with a student who was crying and made the student feel better. It thrilled her to be able to make a child feel happy and that was it…she was hooked! She was destined to be a teacher. She attended Bridgewater State and received a degree in Early Childhood education and in Music. She started working as an aide in the public school system and through a friend got word that St. Bridget’s School was in need of a third grade teacher. Three days later she was teaching full-time.
Ms. Walls has many great memories of Saint Bridget School and the students have many great memories of Ms. Walls. She loves to share her passion for reading as reading is one of her favorite things to do. Students have appreciated her teaching style and are thankful for learning multiplication, cursive, and about butterfly gardens! From her participation in the play to helping out at mass or dressing up with fellow teachers as an expo marker for Halloween, Ms. Walls has been a cherished member of this school community. The St. Bridget’s Community is forever thankful for her dedication and commitment to teaching, learning, and caring. Everyone is thrilled that she will continue to be a part of the community as a substitute teacher and assisting with the drama club.
