Welcome Back!
We are excited to kick off the 2021 - 2022 school year! Substitutes are critical for our success, providing education each and every school year. You are a significant contributor to the growth and development of our students, and we truly appreciate you! To get back in the swing of things, we have a few updates we would like to share.
Subs Can Work District-Wide
We will start the school year by allowing subs to work at any location in the district. This is subject to change if the District moves from a low-risk status to a medium or high-risk status due to COVID-19. To view the risk level and check mask requirements for individual schools please visit the MSBSD COVID-19 page at

If you would like to update your preferred school locations in Absence Management, you can do so by selecting Preferences, then Schools. You can choose the sites where you want to work or exclude certain locations. Be sure to select the appropriate choice at the top of the school list or you may end up missing jobs.
Given the ever-changing nature of our world due to COVID, it is important to stay up to date on crucial information from HR and the District. To make sure you don't miss any updates, please check your district email address regularly. Instructions to access your District email on your mobile device can be found on

Sub Pay Rates Under Review
In an effort to stay competitive with other employers in the Borough and throughout Alaska, we are reviewing our current rates of pay for substitute positions. The School Board will review sub pay at a future board meeting and we hope to have updates sometime in the Fall.

Incentive Pay
In recognition of continued service to Mat-Su Schools, Substitutes who work 30 Days and 100 Days in a fiscal year will qualify for a lump sum payment.
Rates
- 30 Day Incentive: $150.00
- 100 Day Incentive: $300.00
*Eligibility is tracked by fiscal year. Service in all substitute categories are eligible with the exception of permanent employees, building substitutes, long-term substitutes, or nurse-pool substitute positions.

Erin has worked in Human Resources as our hiring specialist and will be filling in for Amber Allen over the 2021-2022 school year.
