Class of 2020 Learning Updates:

ELA (Mrs. Meadows & Mrs. Melton)

Our 8th graders are gaining an adequate exposure to a range of texts and tasks to enhance their reading comprehension skills. They are also working to improve their critical thinking skills by reading complex text and passages. Students are learning how to analyze particular lines of dialogue in stories and drama that propel the action, reveal aspects of a character, or provoke a decision.

Math (Mr. Brown, Mrs. Jordan, & Mrs. Thomas)

Our students will soon begin the linear function unit. This unit focuses on finding slope, y-intercept, and comparing and contrasting the two concepts.

Social Studies (Mr. Smith)

8th grade students are taking a look into the 1800’s and the causes of the civil war. Be on the lookout for an upcoming project on the Civil War.

Science (Mrs. Hoffman)

8th grade students have been learning about how life in the past has progressed and evolved to present day. Students have studied different fossil types and will now be applying their understanding of the progression of organisms to the process of scientific classification and trait inheritance.
