It's the Final Countdown to Winter Break
A friend taught me the KISS concept. Keep It Simple Sister! I tend to have grand ideas and plans and then kill myself to make them a reality. She taught me that my big ideas are great, but often all the hard work and time spent goes unnoticed and unappreciated by others. She explained that I could come up with simpler plans that didn't take as much time, money, or work and the students would still have a great time and enjoy the event just as much. When I put the KISS concept into practice it turned out to be true. Not only did the kids still really enjoy the event, but I enjoyed it more as well because I wasn't as tired, frazzled or frustrated. A side benefit was that my students' behavior was better as well because the plans were not over the top causing them to behave inappropriately.
Guess what...it works at home as well. Give yourself a break this year and let go of trying to make the "perfect" holiday. Perfection is not possible. So Keep It Simple Staff! Give yourself an excellent holiday by giving yourself a break and not putting so much stress on yourself. Your family will enjoy the holiday just as much and maybe even more with a more relaxed and happy you!
Winter Break Shut Down
Before leaving next Friday please remember to follow your usual shut-down procedures including the following:
-Unplug everything (except your computer) that draws electricity.
-Stack student chairs and put them next to your coat hooks for the custodians.
-Make sure your shades are pulled down.
-Send home all boots. snow gear, etc.
-Make sure your lunch wagons are empty and no food is left in your classroom.
-Please remove all personal items from the lounge frig. and freezer. It will be deep cleaned over break.Anything left behind will be discarded.
Staff Update
Beginning January 6th we will have a new face in the building. Delaney Stacy will be our new Speech Intern with Nicole Illig. Delaney comes to us from Eastern Michigan University and is excited to join the team. Please give her a warm Siple welcome!
I am currently searching for a Media Center Para, two Title I paras, and 2-3 lunch monitors. If you know anyone that might be interested in these positions, please let them know to apply asap and then let the office know. The lunch monitor position is great for stay-at home parents, retirees, and college students. Parapros apply online through the Davison website. Playground monitors apply through GECS. Anne can help anyone that needs help with applying.

All my Best to You
I want to take a moment to wish you all the very Happiest Holiday season. I encourage you to extend yourself grace during the holidays and not reach for perfection. Instead, I hope you will relax and enjoy the people that surround you. Remember what our guest speaker, Rhonda, told us at the beginning of the year and slow down to breathe deep. Be mindful. Do what makes you happy. That's my plan. I look forward to seeing you in the Roaring 20's!
