Staffing
We have completed the process for finding a new Year 4 Teacher to replace Mrs Boronovskis. I am very pleased to announce the successful applicant was Brianna Joiner.
Brianna is currently the Year 4 teacher at Corpus Christi College (formerly Yidarra) and has been there for 5 years. She is very excited to be joining the QOA community and is looking forward to meeting the class.
I thank Mrs B for the work she has done with the Year 4's in Semester One and wish her all the best for her upcoming leave.
Edu-Dance Concert
Our Edu-Dance concert yesterday was very well attended and I’m sure you’ll agree that it was a great showcase of what the students have been learning during lessons in Term 2.
I would like to thank our Edu-Dance teacher, Miss Winter for her wonderful instruction of our students this term. I would also like to thank our parents and grandparents who cooperated very nicely with all the movement to allow families the best opportunity to view their child's dance.
We will make sure Edu-Dance is booked in again next year!
Reports
Next Wednesday, the student reports will be made available online to families through SEQTA. These reports contain specific information relating to each individual student’s achievement at this point in time. I encourage you to spend time with your child/children, going through their report, to celebrate the successes and work to be done to achieve even better results.
The teachers here at Queen of Apostles have spent a great deal of time gathering data and writing individualised comments so you have an accurate picture of where each student is at. I would like to thank them for their time and commitment to this task.
School Photos
Our School Photo Day for 2022 is Wednesday June 29 (Week 10) for our Kindy to Year 6 classes with the Pre-Kindy students having their photo on Tuesday June 28. Please keep these dates in your diary. This year we are again using Photo Hendricks.
As Term 2 is a winter term, I would like all students to be in full winter uniform for the photos.
NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920′s which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Indigenous Australians.
NAIDOC Week is always held in the first full week of July and for us this is in the school holidays. Therefore, early next Term we will be doing activities in class that celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements. It is also an opportunity to recognise the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society.
Holidays
Next Friday afternoon, Term Two will come to a close for our students.
There have been some wonderful learning opportunities for all students this term and I have been very impressed with the way they have embraced the challenges that have come their way.
Please be reminded that Term 3 for students begins on Tuesday 19th July.
Best Wishes
Mark Ryan
