YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!
Language Workshop
We are focusing on the relationships in stories for this unit. We have been having nice discussions about what kinds of relationships we see in the books we read and around us.
READING WORKSHOP
We continue to build on our reading stamina each morning through the independent reading and the partner reading we have been doing. It is exciting to see how engaged our students are while they spend time enjoying books! We are also meeting with small groups and building on individual skills where they are at.
Being able to identify all uppercase and lowercase letters and produce the sound that each letter makes are very important foundational skills for all of the reading and writing activities we do in kindergarten. Recently we have been working hard at identifying the beginning sounds of words.
Below you will find a list of all of the words we will be learning plus a few extra words that will come up in their reading. It never hurts to practice at home! :)
MATH WORKSHOP
Science
Our Trimester 1 science unit has been all about Earth and Human Impact. We have been studying how we can reduce the impact of humans on Earth. We have been discussing how to make the Earth a happier place. We have also been looking at living and nonliving things, what living things need in order to survive, and how living things can change the environment to meet their needs.
For our end of the unit projects, we will be heading to our school’s Makerspace. Our school Makerspace is a place where we can be creative and use materials to build different things. We are asking for donations for our projects! If you are able, please send in recyclable materials (water bottles, cardboard, milk jugs, etc.) with your student. If you could send them in a garbage bag that would be awesome!
For our habitat project, we are looking for shoe boxes! Any size would be greatly appreciated :) We cannot wait to show you our finished projects!
Thank you so much for your help! - Ms. Miszewski, Mrs. Krahn, Mrs. Relich
FRIDAY HOORAY WINNERS!
Each Friday, one student from each classroom at Rose Glen is recognized for following the school "Be Statements". An Eagle ticket is pulled, and these students get their names read on the announcements. They also get their picture taken and it is put up on the wall above the office. Congratulations to our winners this week!
