BMES Family Weekly Update
Week of September 5, 2022

Message from Principal Wagner
I hope you all have had a great holiday weekend! As we roll into the second week of school, I want to provide a few reminders to families.
Morning Arrival
As students arrive to BMES, we welcome families by walking or dropping off through the car line. We are asking that all families use the front door for the car riders only (no earlier than 8:28am). If you or your child walks to school, they are welcome to enter through doors B1 and B2 (adjacent to chapel). They are NOT required to enter their specific grade level door as those are reserved for dismissal. Staff will still be stationed at most doors for student safety.
Please remind your student(s) that they are welcome to enter through doors B1 and B2 which are the closest entrance doors from housing. It is encouraged that students do not arrive on school grounds until 8:20am for the start of school at 8:30am.
Afternoon Dismissal
We have designated specific dismissal doors for our students that are exiting to walk home. If you have multiple children, all of your children should be dismissed out the same door, which should be of the youngest siblings. This allows for families to gather together and students to remain inside the building, appropriately supervised.
Please remind your students that they are to exit the dismissal door of the youngest sibling within the household. Please ensure you have communicated this need to your child's teacher so they know where to dismiss your child.
- Kindergarten is at the Front Door
- First Grade is door B1 (near chapel)
- Second Grade is door B2 (near chapel)
- Third and Fourth Grade is door C3 (back playground)
- Fifth Grade is door C1(back of school near bike rack)
Rycor (Student Handbook and Technology Agreement Form)
Also, if you haven't already done so, please stop online to Rycor to complete the Student Handbook and Technology Agreement form for your child. Once complete, those students will be able to use YCSD devices and internet network. No devices for students in grades 3-5 will be issued until the students have both completed forms on file.
Included below are the online links for Rycor, MySchoolBucks, and PTA membership.
See you all on Tuesday,

FEV Tutor
The York County School Division has partnered with FEV Tutor to provide students in grades 3-12 with free, 1:1 online tutoring. In addition to supporting coursework and homework in core subjects such as math, English/Language Arts, science and social studies, FEV Tutor offers support for Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses.
Along with the on-demand support, FEV Tutor also offers weekly sessions between 7 and 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and on weekends so families can select the times that work best for their schedule. To get started with e-tutoring, students should log in to Clever and locate the FEV Tutor app icon to get started. They can then schedule sessions and access live help at any time of the day.
While all support is live and personalized to each student's classes and needs, the program does not involve device cameras or microphones - instead all interactions involve a whiteboard and chat feature. Students will be able to share their screens and upload documents to review with tutors, and tutors only have access to student work provided by the individual student. Once a student is signed up for weekly sessions, FEV Tutor may periodically email families and students (aged 13 and older).

Rycor- Online Forms
We are asking all families complete the Student Handbook Acknowledgment Form and Student/Parent Technology Usage Form on Rycor. We highly encourage all families to visit Rycor, the division’s secure forms and payment system, to complete all required forms prior to the first day of school. We will not be issuing devices to our students in grades 3-5 during the first two weeks of school until those forms are completed.
All students in PK-2 also needs these forms completed in order to use YCSD devices while in the classroom as part of their instructional activities.
