Mrs. Hladun's Tidings

This is our last week of school before our winter holiday break. There will be no school from Monday, December 21st through Monday, January 4th. School will resume on Tuesday, January 5th. Our next Colt Connection will come out on Sunday, January 3rd. During the holiday break, our teachers and staff are not working, and our school office will be closed.

I will be sending out some updated information next week regarding the district's protocols for letting us know about children who become ill over the holiday or who have been exposed to someone with COVID. Please watch for that separately.

Although this holiday season will be like none other, we hope you are able to find joy in the season, and that your family enjoys the time together. We wish you and yours the best.

Toy Drive - through Monday, 12/14

Our community is INCREDIBLE! We have three boxes overflowing with gifts and they keep coming in! Many children will go without this season because of the implications of the pandemic. If you are able, please bring a new, unwrapped gift to the office or have your child drop it off in the red boxes at each drop off gate. Our contact with Toys for Tots will be picking up our gifts on Monday. Thank you!!

Friday Sprit Day - PJs!

Join us for some 'holiday dreaming' by wearing your coziest PJs to school on Friday, 12/18!

Meals over the Holiday Break

Our food service team will be feeding over the winter holiday break. Meal bags with 7 days of meals will be available on:
  • Wednesday 12/23
  • Wednesday 12/30

Meal bags will be available for pick up at Glen Edwards Middle School 1:30 pm - 4 pm or until supplies last.

Meal bags are available for anyone 18 years or younger who live within the WPUSD boundaries. Students will need to be present at time of pick-up or parents will need to bring proof of student enrollment. No pre-sign up is required.

Help us make sure we make enough meal bags and complete the following survey HERE

Holiday Trees at Beerman Plaza!

Have fun getting out of the house with your family and spread holiday cheer! In the Beerman Plaza downtown are trees for each of our WPUSD schools! Bring an ornament (one that you don't mind giving up) on Monday or Tuesday and place it on your school's tree (look for the mascot on each tree). Trees are going to be judged on Tuesday at 5:00, but you can bring the ornament anytime before December 22, 2020. We are going to donate our trees to needy families on December 23rd!

Big thanks to Mrs. Swanson and Mrs. Fleshman for coordinating our initial tree decorating! Every child (at home or at school) is represented on our tree!

Yearbooks - order by 12/18 to guarantee your copy!

We are building a beautiful yearbook that will commemorate this strange year! If you would like to guarantee your copy, you'll need to preorder it by 12/18. You can access the order form here:

We do order some extras, but they are available on a first come, first serve basis. To order a form, fill out this flier and drop it off in the office, send it to school with your child, or mail it to us. We can take exact cash or checks payable to LCES.
