Signs of Suicide Lessons - 11/9 - 11/13

During this challenging year, school staff are working to teach students about mental health and how to seek help if they are worried about themselves or a friend. We are using a program called SOS Signs of Suicide. The program teaches students about this difficult topic and encourages them to seek help. SOS has been used by thousands of schools over the past few decades. Studies have shown that it effectively teaches students about depression and suicide while reducing the number of students’ self-reported suicide attempts.

North Forsyth High School will be implementing this program through 9th Grade Health, Personal Fitness, and JROTC classes the week of November 9th – November 13th. We encourage you to visit www.sossignsofsuicide.org/parent for information on warning signs for youth suicide, useful resources, and some of the key messages students will learn. A parent information letter will be sent home the first week in November.

The Place of Forsyth Holiday House

The holiday season will be here soon! In Forsyth County, we have a tradition of working together to take care of those in our community. Six years ago, a partnership between the local businesses, nonprofit agencies, faith community, and the school system resulted in the The Place Holiday House program to help everyone in our community have the best holiday experience possible. If you are interested in providing donations or in applying to participate in The Place Holiday House program, please visit their website by clicking the button below:

College Application Reminders:

Transcript Requests

North Forsyth High School has partnered with Parchment to order and send your transcript and other credentials securely. Parchment allows for a paperless transaction that can be ordered 24/7, paid electronically, and tracked online. Transcripts will be $6. This link will open a new browser: North Forsyth High School - Parchment

If a Senior is applying to college using The Common Application, please click here for directions on how to send your transcript to Common App through Parchment.

Letters of Recommendation

Reminder! If your college application is in need of a letter of recommendation from a teacher and/or your counselor, please ask them at least two weeks in advance. Several colleges have deadlines on or around January 1st and our teachers/counselors are not working over their winter break. It is so important to be aware of your application deadlines. If you have an application due over the break, please ask your teacher and/or counselor to provide a recommendation prior to December 1st. This gives them plenty of time to submit the recommendation prior to the beginning of their time off!

Student Opportunity Highlight:

UNG Summer Language Institute

The University of North Georgia's Summer Language Institute (SLI) is an academically challenging, fun, and rewarding opportunity for students to earn 8 academic credit hours and complete their foreign language requirement all within 6 weeks. The 2021 SLI will be help June 19th - July 30th and the application is open now! Click the button below for more information on the program:
