Tech Tools for Self-Contained Learning
Here are 3 new tech tools that I learned about today. These tools will assist my self-contained classroom in gaining a 21st century approach to learning. These tools will allow my students to interactively engage within their curriculum.
Lino @ en.linoit.com
I plan to use Lino to allow my students to post reactions and thoughts about their learnings. This site will allow the think time and individual responses that I am looking for with certain activities, but allow for a collaborative discussion once the individual period ends. I also plan to use Lino to record any questions the students may have so that I can refer back to the page when planning the next part of the lesson/unit/activity. This site helps address all of the CIF strategies.
Tagxedo @ www.tagxedo.com
Tagxedo is a site that allows the user to make Word Clouds. Word Clouds can be used to help with vocabulary, brainstorming, topic display, self-expression, and presentation of material in a unique way. I plan to create a Word Cloud to welcome my students back to school and then use Tagxedo throughout the year with vocabulary building and self-expressive activities. I can see my students enjoying the "search & find" feel of reading the clouds and enjoying seeing their ideas presented in a new and exciting way.
Socrative @ www.socrative.com
Socrative is a tool that allows teachers and students to interactively assess/answer questions in an open ended or multiple choice fashion. I plan to create assessments using Socrative which will allow me more time to individually assess my students, keep data in a more organized fashion, and run reports that will show learnings and progress towards IEP goals & Extended Content Standards.
