Show us Your PAWS - March Focus is Acting Respectfully
I would like to talk about the importance of respect in our school's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program.
At Lietz, we believe that respect is a fundamental value that promotes positive relationships and creates a safe and inclusive learning environment. We encourage our students to show respect for themselves, their peers, teachers, staff, and the school community as a whole.
One way that we promote respect is by teaching and modeling positive communication skills. This includes listening, speaking kindly, and using the Peace Process to solve problems.
In addition, we encourage our students to show respect for school property and resources. This means taking care of their own belongings, using equipment and facilities responsibly, and cleaning up after themselves.
When students show respect, they are more likely to feel valued and included, which leads to increased engagement and motivation in their learning. It also creates a positive school culture that benefits everyone.
We invite you to talk with your children about what it means to show respect and how they can demonstrate it in their daily lives. You can talk about what Acting Respectfully looks like at home and as a part of the family community.
Thank you for your continued support in promoting positive behavior and creating a safe and respectful school community.
February PAWS Recognition
Help us Keep Everyone Healthy
Every winter, bad weather can present challenges. So do the illnesses such as colds, flu, fevers and earaches that often come with the winter months. Here are a few reminders that can help keep everyone healthy.
1. Please wash your hands frequently. Stress hand washing, particularly before and after eating, and after using the restroom.
2. While attendance is important, please remember that our district policy is that if within the last 24 hours, your child has vomited, had diarrhea or had a fever or 100º F or above, they should be kept home. As per our recent Norovirus notice, students should stay home for AT LEAST 48 hours after symptoms have ended.
3. Maintain a regular bedtime and morning routine.
4. Ensure students eat a good breakfast every morning
5. Reinforce the importance of avoiding close contact with individuals who are sick, and not sharing food, cups, and/or utensils with others.
