Patrols
Did you know that Mountain View has fifth grade patrols to keep all students safe? We have bus patrols, flag patrols, and Kiss-and-Ride patrols who perform their duties on a daily basis. Ms. Ruotolo and Ms. Kinzer are the teachers in charge of patrols. Fifth graders who demonstrate responsibility and are good role models for other students have the opportunity to become patrols.
The bus patrols help the bus drivers keep students safe during the bus ride and at school when loading the bus. There are two to three patrols for every bus. Flag patrols raise and lower the school flags, as well as fold and store the flags each day. Kiss-and-Ride patrols help students to their cars, making sure the students walk there safely. Hall patrols keep order in the hallways as students are dismissed.
Teachers have high expectations for all patrols. “Patrols are the frontline for helping to keep the students safe,” said Ms. Ruotolo. The yellow belts worn by patrols are a visual reminder to other students that they are being monitored. Patrols are valuable in maintaining safety for our students at Mountain View.
